Why I became atheist & related thots/questions.

I am an atheist, because I don't like the alternative. Theism is subjecting and approving of murderous gods.

“Religion has convinced people that there's an invisible man ... living in the sky. Who watches everything you do every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of ten specific things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do any of these things, he will send you to a special place, of burning and fire and smoke and torture and anguish for you to live forever, and suffer, and suffer, and burn, and scream, until the end of time. But he loves you. He loves you. He loves you and he needs money.”
― George Carlin
Good old George Carlin more or less described why I became an atheist.

George Carlin was a clown.

Because you're incapable of ''surprise''?
Your programme is defective?
Your handler doesn't like you?

Actually, it's because you've demonstrated no sense of irony, and your attempts at humor are always awkward and off the mark. I mean, who could possibly call George Carlin a "clown?" Certainly not anyone with a functioning sense of humor.

What's wrong with calling him a clown?

Much the same as calling you a self-indulgent, smug hypocrite. It may be true, but it would be rude.

I get you. So calling you a miserable old fart, may be true, and under some circumstances be classed as rude.
But the difference between my description (of Carlin) and your description of me, is that Carlin is actually a clown. He may not wear a particular outlandish uniform, but he is
regarded as a comic performer.

I am an atheist, because I don't like the alternative. Theism is subjecting and approving of murderous gods.

And thus, Elvis kills!

Get this:

Belief in Elvis is theism. (ha ha, it isn't, but there are self-declared atheists who maintain that it is)
Thus Elvis is god.
And, per you, since "Theism is subjecting and approving of murderous gods," Elvis is a murderer.

Yay!!

Just answer the question.

Provide the context of the comment. Calling someone a clown is a pejorative comment, yet you're acting as if it isn't. When someone said "Carlin is one of the reasons I'm an atheist," you said "Carlin is a clown." What did you mean by that, if not the obvious, which was to dismiss his thoughts of religion as those not worth listening to?

And thus, Elvis kills!

Get this:

Belief in Elvis is theism. (ha ha, it isn't, but there are self-declared atheists who maintain that it is)
Thus Elvis is god.

No one has ever said belief in Elvis is theism. Your reading comprehension has once again utterly failed you.

And, per you, since "Theism is subjecting and approving of murderous gods," Elvis is a murderer.

Yay!!

Whom did Elvis murder?

Theism is merely the belief in gods. Do you believe any gods exist? If so, you are a theist.

Atheists either don't believe in any gods, or believe no gods exist. Does that describe you?

Of course I have no idea of who Carlin is. It was some considerable time since I had insulted you and I thought you might be feeling neglected.
