What does God do?

This is a question for the believers on sciforums.

What does God do?

I mean, what does God do right here and now, today? I don't want to hear about how God created the universe and that sort of thing, or how God performed miracles in the distant past, or any of that. I just want to know what God does on a day-to-day basis in the modern world, if anything?

Does God meddle in human affairs? Does God talk to people? Does God spend his time running things like the weather?

What does God do?

I picked this up in the other thread, and was going to address it there.

There is an possibility that atheists sometimes raise about the possibility of God's existence. It is often acknowledged by atheists that no one can claim certainty God doesn't exist. It's a big universe out there; it's illogical to try to assert (contrast with believe) that something does not exist. You can't prove a negative.

So some atheists often acknowledge the possibility that God could exist, but simply does nothing.

Of course, it's just as unfalsifiable. A universe where God exists but is completely inactive is utterly indistinguishable from a universe where God does not exist - so it's kind of moot.

I'm hoping that some of our believers can tell us what God does. As I understand it, religions generally claim that God does stuff.

I read an interesting take on the god of creation.
A momentary GOD
Roughly:
God was not GOD before GOD created the universe within GOD's self during which time GOD was GOD.
And, then, GOD separated God's creation from GOD and God was no longer GOD.

By tradition we are known by a male ancestor's name.
(let's use Jones) Jones was the son of the son of the son of the son of.....etc..... Jones, and the Jones we know is also the Jones of several generations ago.
So, if we are the children of GOD then we are GOD, and what GOD does is hang out on internet forums typing lines of words on the computer.

Allow me to correct James R's post...

This is a question for the believers on sciforums...

I am interested in what believers on sciforums think.

That first sentence from an admin could be offsetting...

As for me, the belief in God could be a want to regress to an infant time. Or, the (emotional) memory.

(The socio political is too much to type.)

:EDIT:

Did I use 'believe' and 'think' in the same sentence??? Damn, please do not scold me.

That is a difficult question. For start I would say he manages the universe , since the universe have billion galaxy, there I will assume there might be billions of planets like or similar to the earth where are populated by living organisms . ( speaking after bio creation )
The living organisms will live in an ecological balance. He manages the environment which promotes evolution of specie ,were in time it will produce a specie of His own image.
After the creation of beings ( biological robots, us ). He would want that they would recognize Him as their creator . ( more complication due to the freedom given to them ) Guidance is given to them so they will have respect for the created NATURE. Now you can add more work for manage the advanced creation . Tha MAN.
What do you think would that make Him busy ?

God sustains the universe, answers prayers that are worthy and manages the spirit zone. He sometimes changes the laws of the universe temporarily in order to reveal his glory.

I've been reading that finding your self is also finding God

I find myself every time I look in the mirror. Not impressed with what I see but that's another story
Don't see god's face looking back so can't say found him yet

What do you think would that make Him busy ?

Being omnipotent means never being busy

He sometimes changes the laws of the universe temporarily in order to reveal his glory.

When did that last happen?

Oh omnipotent means being imagnative , understanding this being limits of understanding of things learned from this beings without .

But god in the traditional sense , abrahamic sense , enlil , yaweh etc. Does what he can to control Humanity .

I don't know what you mean, Things done but at His time and his will and not on our.[/QUOTE]

Omnipotent God – What is Omnipotence?
We have an omnipotent God. He has the ability and power to anything (omni=all; potent=powerful). This power is exercised effortlessly. A good example of God’s omnipotence is in the name el shaddai, which means “self-sufficient” or “almighty.” God’s power is unlimited.

Seems to me god really does not do anything with this unlimited power apart kick starting the Universe if that's your belief

but at His time which does not appear to have arrived yet

A proper definition is given by Thiessen: “God is all-powerful and able to do whatever he wills. Since his will is limited by his nature, God can do everything that is in harmony with his perfections.”

A law unto himself

:)

An omni-potent allows this beings freedom of understanding of things from the without , to be expressed in this Universe .

This being has no laws .

Hence the dicotomy between life and death .

Humanity must understand this . When we do , we will find the existence of OUR existence , Humanity much more important , to Us . Humanity must define , have a sound foundation of existence of which we can grasp , hold on to , for all time

This being , omni-being is not about perfection , for this can never be achieved . Because learning is infinite .
