what do women get out of islam?

How about westeners women who have suffered from the unbias conventions dictated by men.why women in America had the right to vote till 70s of last century.
In Quran Allah says
And among God's signs is this: He created for you mates from amongst yourselves (males as mates for females and vice versa) that you might find tranquillity and peace in them. And he has put love and kindness among you. Herein surely are signs for those who reflect (The Holy Quran 30:21
YOU HAVE A LOT OF NERVE!

tresbien, how's that work under islam?

& the ultimate insult; under early, middle & we-want-to-go-back-to-the-pure islam of many countries now, woman are 2nd or 3rd class citizens, tell us how many women does it take to testify in islamic court? who gets to decide if a muslim couple gets a divorce? who is the head of household? who keeps the kids in divorce? how many husbands can a woman have at any one time, 4? can a women leave her home unescorted?

under pre-islamic arabia; women could be merchants, pick husbands, own caravans, & bank-roll new religions, just ask Khadijah

only modern western or secular states & moderate muslim countries allow this now, Pakistan had Benizir, Indonesia has Megawatti, but those countries are now in free-fall

How about westeners women who have suffered from the unbias conventions dictated by men.why women in America had the right to vote till 70s of last century.Did u read The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath and other novels.the protagonist always rebeles against patriachal society.Islam honors women and elevate her status.
really? you must be the previliged daughter of the Sultan of Brunei?

anyway, I forgot this,

Front Line is deeply concerned following the sentencing to death of journalist and human rights defender Sayed Perwiz Kambakhsh for distributing "blasphemous" material. Sayed Perwiz Kambakhsh is a journalism student at Balkh University and a journalist for the daily newspaper Jahan-e Naw (New World).

his crime?
Sayed Perwiz Kambakhsh, 23, was arrested in 2007 after downloading material from the internet relating to the role of women in Islamic societies.

its a crime to research women's' rights in some muslim countries? really??

men get 72 virgins
women get 2nd or 3rd class status, depending
men can divorce easily
most muslim countries are run patriarchal
honor killings
veils
headscarves
hajib, burqa
2nd class education
arranged marriages
no leadership positions, except for Pakistan

I mean, Khadijah was the boss, rich, CEO

so what happened to equal rights?

Isalm has elevated the status of women since 1428 years.Islam has protected her right and put her on equal footing to men.Have u ever read doll house by ibsen or The bell jar by sylvia Plath. When western women get her right to vote and participate in politics.
Muslim women dress in a way that is modest and dignified. The purpose of clothing is not only to protect oneself from physical elements, but also to protect oneself from immorality and pride.

Our Prophet (may God bless and keep him!) said, "Women are the twin halves of men." "The rights of women are sacred. See that women are maintained in the rights granted to them
Women are twin halves of men."

"When a woman observes the five times of prayer, and fasts the months of Ramadan, and is chaste, and is not disobedient to her husband, then tell her to enter Paradise by whichever gate she likes."

"Paradise lies at the feet of the mother."

"The rights of women are sacred. See that women are maintained in the rights granted to them."

"Whoever does good to girls (children) will be saved from hell."

"Whoever looks after two girls till they come of age will be in the next world along with me, like my two fingers close to each other."

"A thing which is lawful, but disliked by Allah, is divorce."

"Shall I not point out to you the best of virtues? It is to treat tenderly your daughter when she is returned to you, having been divorced by her husband."

"Whoever has a daughter and does not bury her alive, or scold her, or show partiality to his other children, Allah will bring him to Paradise.

The Prophet (pbuh) said: "Seeking knowledge is a mandate for every Muslim (male and female)."

God says
Verily the men who surrender (to Allah) and women who surrender, and men who believe, and women who believe, and men who obey and women who obey, and men who are sincere and women who are sincere, and men who endure and women who endure, and men who are humble and women who are humble, and men who give alms and women who give alms, and men who fast and women who fast, and men who are modest and women who are modest, and women who remember (Him), Allah hath prepared for them pardon and a great reward." i haven't read all 17 pages, but in the first two was amazed to see kadark speaking calmly and respectfully. why are you such a psycho in every other forum? i agreed with everything you were saying though, people can't persecute islam just because people do bad things and and call it islamic. seemed like peopel criticising islam knew nothing of the quran.

my only criticism is the quran states that men are a degree above women, though in responsibility. the wording is misleading. the way i see it, given the nature of women as generally physically inferior, and their subsequent vulnerability, this is understandable encouragement for men to be vigilant and protect women. just a thought.

Man, this thread had died in February. Thanks for bringing back this memory. :)

Kadark is a good friend of mine and a very respectful person. You should PM him, he's a really good person once you get to know him. It's only some of the members on this forum are really aggravating. If you go through the previous pages, you will realize exactly what I mean. I'm also guilty of becoming rather frustrated with some people on this forum, though usually I am pretty calm and relaxed.

Your interpretation is correct as the Quran states:

"Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. (The Noble Quran 4:34)"

"For Muslim men and women,- for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for true men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in Charity, for men and women who fast (and deny themselves), for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in God's praise,- for them has God prepared forgiveness and great reward. (The Noble Quran, 33:35)"

"O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other. Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well-acquainted. (The Noble Quran, 49:13)"

It's nice seeing you. I hope all is well. Take care of yourself.

His posts here are often misogynistic, simplistic in their ascription of a particular type of personality to all of humanity, and very condemning of some cultural traits he does not understand.

Respectful of whom ?

I thought the part about even the poorest man having ten wives in the old days was revealing - put the rest of that stuff, such as how women are equal but can't have multiple husbands or dress in a way that disturbs men like Kadark, in context.

There was no Golden Age of Islam. It's a myth.

Well, why don't you ask him for an explanation on this instead of asking me?

Respectful of whom ?

Those who are worthy of respect and those who respect others. Those who talk down to people will inevitably have people who will respond tot hem in kind. You get what you receive.

This forum is filled with many people with inflated egos and who love to judge others based on their prejudices.

Its those good people who make this forum (even the world) worthwhile, and Kadark is one of those people. You may disagree, but if you disrespect Muslims, do you really blame some Muslims for not respecting you?

Ok, I think this post belongs somewhere else, perhaps pseudoscience or free thoughts.
