It is not just you pad , it is about many people attitude towards their immediate envirenment . Garbage . Spacetime has nothing to bend .
The geodesic that determines motion in spacetime does bend, and can be bent by gravity. An example - a light beam bends when it comes near a massive object. To the photon absolutely nothing has changed; it is going in a straight line. But to an outside observer - it bends.
Another example. Let's say you are onboard the ISS (the space station.) You take a pebble and flick it towards the other end of the station. You flick it slowly so it takes about 20 minutes to get there. From your perspective it traveled slowly in a straight line. But when it started out it was traveling at 18,500 miles per hour because that's how fast the station was going. By the time it hits the other wall it is traveling 18,500 miles IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION! How did this happen? Did something stop it, then accelerate it back in the other direction to a speed much faster than a rifle bullet? Did some force add huge amounts of energy to the pebble?
