ignorance is bliss!!!! sometimes i wish i were stupid
maybe you already are

Nietzsche has said something on the lines: Not only lies he, who speaks against his wisdom, but most severely he, who speaks against his ignorance.

Aren't others suppose to make that assumption about you? Forgive me but self proclaiming anything is rather untrustworthy to me.
By our society standarts, yes. But when it comes to communicating about yourself, such a self-disclosure is quite important to avoid misunderstandings and to build up a relationship. Which is why it is often so hard to do so nowdays... :rolleyes:

So I should go around believing who think they are deep? (not pertaining to you Avatar but concerning others I have met who thought highly of themselves). Forgive me but I can't tell if you are agreeing with me or questioning my opinion.

About black and all.... My sis, the psychiatrist, said that people whose closets are black and white see life only in those colors (no gray, or yellow). That was aimed at me, bc that's the color of my closet, and perhaps there's no truth to it.
But if it is true, does that mean that people who dress in black and bloody see everything as bad and bloody? And do people who dress in pink only see in rosy colors?

I'm both agreeing and questioning, from this perspective. There are people that regard themselves higher then they really are. This is certainly possible. But some people are just plain honest about themselves. It is easier to recognize those, when they say something that is true about themselves, but that is not good, and they don't like. But truth is, who is going to say what is bad about themselves? Everyone wants to be accepted, so it is far more possible that people will only say the good stuff. Still, there are people with low self-esteem that think of themselves very badly.

In any case, it is important not to assume that a person thinks highly about him/herself only because they say something positive about their personalities. That's what people should keep in mind.

Yeah, well... blah blah blah... that wasn't supposed to be a serious discussion, right? So let's just grab a beer and some pot and make a party in the Cesspool, ok? :D :D

Treu, but not on internet forums and not in words. There is an exception. Self dellusion. It is highly rampant. What one, whole heartedly, believes is the truth is in fact grandoise view of self which isn't shared by the world around you. This isn't limited to self but infact invades all aspects of life. Just look at terrorists.

But truth is, who is going to say what is bad about themselves? Everyone wants to be accepted, so it is far more possible that people will only say the good stuff.

In this day and age modesty and subtlety is preferred, so that causes self pity and wallowing to take over...either way it is just another form of self-love: be it self appreciation or self deprication. How many people today gets condolences and attention through diffidence and self-pity!

Still, there are people with low self-esteem that think of themselves very badly.

..and these are the co-workers, classmates, friends that bore us with their ennui riddled sob stories.

In any case, it is important not to assume that a person thinks highly about him/herself only because they say something positive about their personalities. That's what people should keep in mind.

I wasn't questioning his modesty or calling him haughty. I was merely implying that certain adjectives are reserved for others to employ to describe you. I have always seen it that way. I have nothing against anyone calling themselves deep or interesting, but the fact that they actually are remains for their primary and secondary relationships to decide.

No, because thats just bullshit. Ones color preferences do not indicate one's view in life. My closet is full of colors but so many call me heartless. What some people don't understand that our subconcious isn't showing its face through every decision we make.

People buy black to look thin or appear grim...for the latter one does not need to look like the an Adam's family reject to be grim in thought.

Maybe, just maybe Avatar just likes black and Dark red color.

Just what I thought.
But I noticed that's what those shrinks do, they pick on every little movement and try to see the conscious and the subconscious in it. :(
Don't get me wrong, I love black and white and I am a very happy well-balanced person, and I truly think everyone who likes black is awesome.
But black closet doesn't mean depth. Avatar made a joke. That means, Sarge, you should have smiled.... /pokes you. C'mon, smile.

wow! a whole discussion about one little sentence from me :rolleyes:
if it makes you feel more comfortable you can call me self dellusios narcist, sargentlard. I don't give a shit and maybe you'll be right, but as for other people doing the labeling - don't trust them, never did, don't think I ever will. The only person that has a chance to know something about one's personality is that same person, because others know nothing (if not some psichoterapist or smthing like that). and about our society... it's a joke, the whole big thing is a sad joke though only human nature is to blame. the same nature that has helped us to achieve much, so I won't critisize it.
===
as for the black colour - it suits to my personality
===
I am! (ach, I can not say that, right? for it is for the others to judge, I could be dellusios. maybe I'm not, or maybe I'm a zombie controlled by goldfish. and what the f*k is I anyway. nobody really knows. so how can anybody judge?)

you don't have to buy it
and I don't sell it
so there's no problem

Selling and buying has nothing to do with it. Also I never called you anything (the dsiclaimer should have gotten through). I just think that characteristics are for others to define.
