The irrelevance of God

Reality; How real was it to send message without wire before Marconi time ? I am sure you would be one of the screaming it is impossible

Sorry, but that is a fallacy. Technological advances have nothing to do with belief in gods.

It's not belief, it's as real as love, beauty, intellect, glory and reality.

Of course it's a belief, because unlike gods, everyone can experience love, beauty, intellect, glory and reality.

Sorry dude, you need to own up to being honest about this and admit that your belief is nothing more than a belief.

True delusion, dude.

Have you considered how man have advanced yet the ape is an ape and have not advanced for over 10million years , do you have a scientific answer ?

Delusion is very powerful. But that hardly justifies it as a means of knowing the truth.

But the thing is Magical, the desire to "know" a god/gods is very real and relevant for some. As you wish to not be told you are "in error" for your disbelief, they don't want to be told they are in error, either.

I may no longer believe what I once did in terms of a god's existence, etc...but, it isn't for me or you to tell someone who believes, that he/she is "wrong." ( unless that person's beliefs infringe upon your right to choose, etc.)

As I don't wish others' views "forced" upon me, likewise I will try not to impose mine on others. At the end of the day, it's anyone's guess who is right or wrong?

Just my thoughts to it all! :)

Exactly. Atheism is the belief. Theism is fact. Or Panentheism or what have you.

True delusion, dude.

What delusion? Are you saying that everyone on the planet experiences God in the same way they experience love, beauty, intellect, glory and reality? That would be a lie and you know it.

Oh, why did I venture into this thread lol ;)

Well...theism isn't based on "facts." Your belief in a god is just as much a belief, as an atheist's viewpoint.
Theists and atheists can peacefully coexist if we learn to respect the others' views.

I lean more towards agnosticism, for I can't say with certainty if God exists or not.

Why not? You expect as much in your everyday life. You would certainly take issue with a friend or relative who claimed they had an invisible friend who could magically make things happen. If not in the interest of objective truth, at least in the interest of that person's sanity. Besides, theists are notorious for thinking ill of those who don't believe in their god. Whole levels of hell have been imaginatively contrived to accomodate such heretics. Don't you take issue with that kind of thinking?

Yes, it's called evolution, and both the ape and the human evolved from a common ancestor.

What is your definition of the 'truth'?

If you consider Science as the truth then science is not faith but faith has science because faith has its own truth as in the case of 'placebo effect'.

But the placebo affect isn't truth. A person who thinks they have cancer doesn't therefore get cancer. Some symptoms of having cancer may occur perhaps, but symptoms that are nonetheless false and indicative of no cancer whatsoever.

It was impossible before Marconi's time and someone claiming to do so with no evidence was a fake.

Doctor's know how to use 'placebo effect'.
