I've looked into some domain names before and they were several thousand dollars worth. Like the ones they talked about in that article...
You are looking in the wrong places.
That's why I gave you that link (there are quite a few other places that sell them for very cheap as well).
those exorbitant prices are only if you are buying it from an individual who is sitting on it because it is a name people might want (cyber squatter) and they are hoping to sell it at a premium.
Kind of like scapling concert tickets.
