Quotes to remember

With a two mile kill radius you don't have to reposition much. When the seals were shaggin' for the boats they'd let us know when they were under the umbrella. Time to beat the ground behind them. Couple of times I fired between them. They said that was "stimulating". Meh, got them back to the boats.
The State boys did "warm up" about a mile from a local prison. The inmates could hear Maw Deuce and I bet some of them changed their plans.

“There were thousands of households throughout that city and there was something happening in all of them. There was some kind of story in each, but self-contained. No one else knew. No one else cared.”
― Markus Zusak, Underdog

Not leaving: an act of trust and love,
often deciphered by children”

“Dejavu' is a subconcious reminder of the contract your soul signed long before you chose the body you would reside in on earth. Trust the timing of uncanny moments, synchronicity and your gut instinct.”
― Nikki Rowe

“So far as I can see, nothing good in the world has ever been done by well-rounded people. The good work is done by people with jagged, broken edges, because those edges cut things and leave an imprint, a design.”

“We did not ask for this room or this music. We were invited in. Therefore, because the dark surrounds us, let us turn our faces to the light. Let us endure hardship to be grateful for plenty. We have been given pain to be astounded by joy. We have been given life to deny death. We did not ask for this room or this music. But because we are here, let us dance.”
― Stephen King, 11/22/63

“If life were merely a habit, I should commit suicide; but even now, more or less desperate, I cannot but think, ‘Something wonderful may happen.’ It is not optimism, it is a rejection of self-pity (I hope) which leaves a loophole for life… I merely choose to remain living out of respect for possibility. And possibility is the great good. — Frank O’Hara, Early Writing, 108-9 (1/22/49) Bookpeople (June 1977).”

“I am a dwindling minority, someone who sees my appetites as fed by rock and cactus and dry winds. And I am losing to a world of pavement, deals, fine saloons, and new clothes, losing on both sides of the line. Those huge hard plates we call cultures are grinding me up into a very fine dust.”
— Charles Bowden

Driving from SF to STL reminds one of how much open space we still have. I-40 has stretches were not one single electric light is seen at night. Canada even more so. A burned-out veteran friend of mine lives on an island in a body of water near Great Slave Lake. He gets zero visitors. He flies out for essential consumables 2-3 times a year, otherwise he sees no other humans, unless he's trying to get me up there for fishing. The megalodon wanna-bee trout like a good fight. It's sometimes near even odds with them.

"On Friday the 13th, April 2029, an asteroid large enough to fill the Rose Bowl as though it were an egg cup will fly so close to Earth that it will dip below the altitude of our communication satellites. We did not name this asteroid Bambi. Instead, we named it Apophis, after the Egyptian god of darkness and death." --Neil De Grasse Tyson, From Space Chronicles, p. 53.

“There is something in October sets the gypsy blood astir: We must rise and follow her, When from every hill of flame She calls, and calls each vagabond by name."---William Bliss

"As the archeology of our thought easily shows, man is an invention of recent date. And one perhaps nearing its end."---Michel Foucault
