“Your problem is how you are going to spend this one and precious life you have been issued. Whether you're going to spend it trying to look good and creating the illusion that you have power over circumstances, or whether you are going to taste it, enjoy it and find out the truth about who you are.”
― Anne Lamott

''When people show you who they really are, believe them the first time.'' - unknown

“[T]hat old September feeling, left over from school days, of summer passing, vacation nearly done, obligations gathering, books and football in the air ... Another fall, another turned page: there was something of jubilee in that annual autumnal beginning, as if last year's mistakes had been wiped clean by summer.”
― Wallace Stegner, Angle of Repose

“You must learn one thing:
the world was made to be free in.

Give up all the other worlds
except the one to which you belong.

Sometimes it takes darkness and the sweet
confinement of your aloneness
to learn

anything or anyone
that does not bring you alive
is too small for you.”
― David Whyte

“You don’t need to set yourself on fire to keep others warm.” - from HBO series “The Affair”

It means that it’s okay to tell others no, and still be helpful to them.

I like that one.

It does appear though there are lots of people who say "you Minions need to stop driving cars - to save the planet, while it is OK for us to fly private jets to attend meetings to talk, about saving the planet"

:)

“Every part of me pulses with electric energy. Every synapse is firing, every part of me is alert, awake, and what I think is that this, this feeling, this is real. This feeling of being absolutely alive, absolutely in this moment, this is as real as it gets.”
― Theresa Alan, The Girls' Global Guide to Guys

The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sun-burned hands I used to hold
I started reading that and immediately started thinking "That's not how it goes...."
And then realised I was think of:

"Through autumn's golden gown we used to kick our way,
You always loved this time of year
Those fallen leaves lie undisturbed now
'Cause you're not here" - Vigrass and Osborne

I started reading that and immediately started thinking "That's not how it goes...."

I sorta vaguely recall that also

I remember seeing a movie where my version featured and have a thin memory of it being something about a mental hospital - love story in there. But that is all I have

I sorta remember its a haunting melody. If I have spare moment, well actually I have a lot of spare moments being retired, but do lots of my stuff, and I might add as one of my moments some effort to track down the movie

:)

I looked it up because it was bothering me (curse you)

War of the Worlds

'Cause you're not here
'Cause you're not here
'Cause you're not here

Fire suddenly leapt from house to house.
The population panicked and ran, and I was swept along with them, aimless and lost without Carrie.

Again haunting lyrics

Cheers

Would you believe I did look it up and would you double believe

Autumn Leaves is a 1956 American film noirdrama film by Columbia Pictures starring Joan Crawford and Cliff Robertson in an older woman/younger man tale of mental illness. The screenplay was written by Jean Rouverol and Hugo Butler, though it was credited to Jack Jevne (serving as a front), since Rouverol and Butler were blacklisted at the time of the film's release.

Memory vague on details but hanging in there. 1956 = me age 12, 2019 = me 77. Not to shabby

Next track down if I can download a copy

“Every living thing dies, Art. That’s why we cherish it while we have it. That’s why we respect the decisions our loved ones make for themselves. That’s why we love, and why we care, and why we hurt. Because everything dies.”
