What do you think? (Stupid answer to a stupid question.)
Born of God's Spirit by adoption.
Okay, so there's always a battle occuring. It's just hard for me to believe that getting into heaven is as simple as one prayer, and then you can just live however you want.
If there is a battle occuring as you say, then can't that battle be lost?
Old Covenant (Old Testament), New Covenant (New Testament), it doesn't get much easier than that for most.
Oh, my apology, we'll apply that to some of your other posts then, and so, what's your problem about those NT verses?
For the word 'saved' to have any meaning there must be something one is saved 'from'.saved - A state of being in which if someone dies while they are saved they will go to heaven. This state of being involves repenting for sins and putting forth a certain degree of effort on a continual basis to not sin.
I suppose it depends on whether you are a catholic or a protestant. Catholics put more emphasis on 'works', protestants more emphasis on 'faith'.Or, does God judge people on the cumulative actions of their entire lives. Can someone live 70 years as an extremely sinful atheist commiting every sin imaginable every day and still make it to heaven by repenting and suddenly believing in Jesus on their death beds?
So in order to be considered in a "saved" state, a person must:
1. Be baptized in water which cleanse them the original sin of Adam and Eve
2. Believe that Jesus is the Son of God, the Christ, etc....
So really, someone's final destination would be determined by what they believe at the moment of death. They could alternate between a saved and unsaved state during their entire lives but only their state at the point of death matters. Is this correct?
