"Of course, that could be what happens, and there's a lot of evidence for menningitis and similar brain injuries from vaccines, so it could be that you're so stupid because you lost lots of brain cells."

actually the introduction of a vaccine to prevent certain strains of meningitis, (N.Menigitidis group C) resulted in a reduction of meningitis cases caused by said bacteria.

you still haven't produced any evidence that you understand the immune system or explained why it is good that an innocent boy should die.

By evidence i mean evidence, look it up in a dictionary before you come out with "Anyway, A causes B, B causes C, C causes D, etc."
because that is a bit meaningless.

how much does it cost to become a registered homeopath?

Hahnemanniac claims 100% cures for all psychiatric diseases (we'll forget for the moment the failure to cure his own mental illness). Surely, surely, generalized anxiety is one that homeopathy will cure. Let's see....

BACKGROUND: Homeopathy is commonly used for the treatment of medical and psychological conditions. Such prevalent use, however, is not supported by robust, methodologically sound research. This study evaluates the effect of homeopathic treatment in generalized anxiety disorder, a prevalent mental disorder characterized by an enduring pattern of excessive apprehension and distress and by mental and bodily complaints. METHOD: Forty-four patients with DSM-IV generalized anxiety disorder participated in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled 10-week trial of individually tailored homeopathic remedy. Homeopathic therapy was administered by an expert who followed the traditional routines of homeopathic diagnosis and prescription. Thirty-nine subjects completed the study (20 in the active treatment group and 19 in the placebo group). Subjects' symptoms were rated before treatment and after 5 and 10 weeks of treatment, with the Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety (HAM-A) as main outcome measure. Additional measures of outcome included the Brief Symptom Inventory, the Psychological General Well-Being Index, the Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression, the Beck Depression Inventory, Spielberger's State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, and a Visual Analogue Scale of subjective distress. RESULTS: Significant (p <.05) improvement in most measures, including the HAM-A, was observed in both the active treatment and placebo groups, yet no group effect was observed. CONCLUSION: The effect of homeopathic treatment on mental symptoms of patients with generalized anxiety disorder did not differ from that of placebo. The improvement in both conditions was substantial. Improvement of such magnitude may account for the current belief in the efficacy of homeopathy and the current increase in the use of this practice.

Individualised homeopathy as an adjunct in the treatment of childhood asthma: a randomised placebo controlled trial.

White A, Slade P, Hunt C, Hart A, Ernst E.

Complementary Medicine, Peninsula Medical School, University of Exeter, Exeter EX2 4NT, UK. adrian.white@pms.ac.uk

BACKGROUND: Homeopathy is frequently used to treat asthma in children. In the common classical form of homeopathy, prescriptions are individualised for each patient. There has been no rigorous investigation into this form of treatment for asthma. METHODS: In a randomised, double blind, placebo controlled trial the effects of individualised homeopathic remedies were compared with placebo medication in 96 children with mild to moderate asthma as an adjunct to conventional treatment. The main outcome measure was the active quality of living subscale of the Childhood Asthma Questionnaire administered at baseline and follow up at 12 months. Other outcome measures included other subscales of the same questionnaire, peak flow rates, use of medication, symptom scores, days off school, asthma events, global assessment of change, and adverse reactions. RESULTS: There were no clinically relevant or statistically significant changes in the active quality of life score. Other subscales, notably those measuring severity, indicated relative improvements but the sizes of the effects were small. There were no differences between the groups for other measures. CONCLUSIONS: This study provides no evidence that adjunctive homeopathic remedies, as prescribed by experienced homeopathic practitioners, are superior to placebo in improving the quality of life of children with mild to moderate asthma in addition to conventional treatment in primary care.

Dang! No difference from placebo... again! Starting to see a pattern here, Hahnemanniac?

Last chance, Hahnemanniac. Your old friend arnica. Surely it will reduce the pain and bruising from hand surgery. In fact, it should completely eliminate them, as homeopathy is 100% effective, 100% of the time, right?

Homeopathic arnica for prevention of pain and bruising: randomized placebo-controlled trial in hand surgery.

Stevinson C, Devaraj VS, Fountain-Barber A, Hawkins S, Ernst E.

Department of Complementary Medicine, University of Exeter, UK.

Homeopathic arnica is widely believed to control bruising, reduce swelling and promote recovery after local trauma; many patients therefore take it perioperatively. To determine whether this treatment has any effect, we conducted a double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized trial with three parallel arms. 64 adults undergoing elective surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome were randomized to take three tablets daily of homeopathic arnica 30C or 6C or placebo for seven days before surgery and fourteen days after surgery. Primary outcome measures were pain (short form McGill Pain Questionnaire) and bruising (colour separation analysis) at four days after surgery. Secondary outcome measures were swelling (wrist circumference) and use of analgesic medication (patient diary). 62 patients could be included in the intention-to-treat analysis. There were no group differences on the primary outcome measures of pain (P=0.79) and bruising (P=0.45) at day four. Swelling and use of analgesic medication also did not differ between arnica and placebo groups. Adverse events were reported by 2 patients in the arnica 6C group, 3 in the placebo group and 4 in the arnica 30C group. The results of this trial do not suggest that homeopathic arnica has an advantage over placebo in reducing postoperative pain, bruising and swelling in patients undergoing elective hand surgery.

Well, there you have it. Once again, no difference from placebo. No reduction in symptoms any better than a sugar pill, and no cures. Not one.

Case closed. Homeopathy is a placebo "medicine", nothing more.

Lies, lies, lies. I have personally tried this, Hahnemanniac, along with several colleagues. No symptoms. None whatsoever. Proof that homeopathy is a fraud.

Don't you have anything else??

Not that there is any shadow of doubt on the topic, but further proof that Hahnemanniac is a fraud and knows nothing about health matters. Bovine toxin? Are you kidding me? Of course such a thing, just like the efficacy of homeopathy, does not exist. Or is one of the 10 "natural laws" of the absurd and long-ago disproven system of homeopathy that beef is poisonous?

Obviously, to anyone with even modest knowledge of health issues, BTox is short for Botulinum toxin, the toxic protein from Clostridium botulinum bacteria that causes botulism. Surely you have heard of this disease, caused when one ingests food contaminated with Clostridium and not cooked properly, whereby the toxin is absorbed through the digestive mucosa, binds to cholinergic synapses and causes paralysis?

This brings up the perfect opportunity for Hahnemanniac to "prove" your case. I, Hans, Prester John and others here know of a gentleman who would very gladly give you a lump sum of $1,000,000 in cash if you can prove homeopathy is effective, in just one patient... you! All you would have to do is ingest food contaminated with botulinum toxin, and then treat yourself with only homeopathy. As the paralysis sets in, you can have other homeopaths adminster your treatments. If you succeed (and survive), you will have proven to us and the world that you were right and we were wrong. Not only that, you will get immense, global media coverage for yourself and homeopathy. Plus you get $1,000,000! What have you got to lose, we can ensure that real physicians are present to administer life support when your treatments fail you.

Seriously, this is no joke. Are you up to the challenge? Put your beliefs to the ultimate test!

I don't get this: how does a substance that causes similar symptoms to a disease, diluted a trillion fold and then ingested cure the disease? It doesn’t make sense how it would work and as evidence so happens to prove it doesn’t.

What search terms did you use to get these various trials off Medline?

They seem pretty damning really especially since they all seem to have allowed for the whole 'individualisation' rigmarole to be performed. [Actually, the Arnica one wasn't, but it's so famous and routine we'll let them off that one. The others were 'individualised' though]

Please note i do not endorse the suggestion that you ingest a lethal dose of botulism toxin and try to cure yourself with homeopathy. Such an action would be fatal.

However the offer of 1,000,000 dollars real money, smakeroooneys, in your face, actual factual, there for the taking, oh all i have to do is prove homeopathy is there. no really it is. Follow the link , get rich.

Francine,

Just search on "homeopathy". To get more clinical trials, you could add "clinical" or "Efficacy" terms to the search.

How about we settle for giving Hahnemanniac carcinogens tell he gets cancer and then have him cure himself with homeopathy, it got to be a chronic disease or I’m guessing that will be his excuse.

Actually, I think this is a safer challenge. I'm pretty sure most victims of botulism recover with proper treatment, that may include life support such as a ventilator to continue breathing.

I was going to suggest inhalation of 100 mg of aerosolized anthrax spores, as pulmonary anthrax, according to "allopaths", is virtually 100% fatal without antiobiotic treatment. And these fools are so convinced homeopathic mercury is 100% effective with only one dose against bacterial infections! But without effective treatment (i.e. using only homeopathy), by the time he admitted homeopathy wasn't working it would be too late.

Good idea but would take too long. How about smallpox? In fact, I'd volunteer as the control - I'd get the vaccine (again - I was vaccinated as a child), then we could both be exposed to smallpox. Ugly way to die, though...

oh I like. :) smallpox though is hard to get since modern medicine killed it off. Lets try something like rabies: You both get exposed and you take the rabies vaccines and he takes the homeopathic treatment. If he lives he wins 1,000,000 dollars!

Looks like we finally sent the hopelessly inane quack homeopath Hahnemanniac and his faithful companion tim'sbrainnotokay packing for good.

In the immortal words of Thomas Dolby, we blinded them... with science!

"It's poetry in motion
she turned her tender eyes to me.
As deep as any ocean
as sweet as any harmony.
But they blinded me with science
they blinded me with science

And failed me in biology.
When I'm dancing close to her
blinding me with science
science - science.
I can smell the chemicals
blinding me with science
science -
Science
science."

One of the many problems with quacks like homeopaths is that there is no registration at all (at least in the U.S.). Any lunatic can spend a few weeks reading that Materica crap on the internet, order a truckload of "remedies" from any of the homeopathic suppliers, stick a shingle out and start "treating" patients. From the posts of Hahnemanniac, this sounds like exactly the path he followed. To become more "official", there are plenty of fraud schools out there that will sell you a diploma (you can then call yourself a doctor of homeopathy) for a few hundred bucks and a 6 week correspondence course.

Hopefully FDA cracks down and eliminates this whole mess once and for all.

BTox farted out another lie/misrepresentation, about the 200th one here so far:

Hmm... Hahnemanniac and tim'sbrainnotokay keep yammering that homeopathy completely cures all diseases, 100% of the time. Well then surely it should have no problem with migraine headaches. Let's see..

I didn't say that, did I, dumb ars?

I said that we have yet to find any diseases incurable, didn't I, dumb ars?

And, yes, migraines are rather easy prey to homeotherapeutics.

Oh, goodie; BToxic (bovine toxin or something) quoted other killers of allopathy I get to destroy for the ignorant fools and liars they are:

little is known about the real effectiveness of homeopathic therapy in headaches.

Yeah, that's about par for the level of ignorance in the papers you say are evaluations of homepathy, for it is NOT IN THE SLIGHTEST BIT TRUE, you dumb shite!

Lookie at this, you ignorant fool with vomit on your face; oops! sorry, that's one of the other allopathic fools here.

You're the one with bovine toxin up your butt, aren't you?

http://homeoint.org/books/kentrep/kent0130.htm#P133

No less than 88 pages of symptoms rubrics and medicines are devoted to headaches in Kent's REPERTORY TO THE HOMEOPATHIC MATERIA MEDICA.

That basically means that EVERY drug cures headaches, but you wouldn't know that because YOU DON'T KNOW THE SLIGHTEST ACCURATE THING ABOUT HOMEOPATHY, do you, dumb ars?

But migraines are indeed special, the worst perhaps:

This is what you ignorant fools call no evidence, right?

Gee, I guess that makes you all liars, right?

No, that makes you all dumb shites, right?

No, that makes you all ignoramouses, right?

No, that makes you all butt sucks, right?

No, it makes you all ALL of those things!

And, gee, I guess the dumb shites from whom you get your information saying all of the lies you pass along about there being no proof for homeopathy, that homeopathy doesn't work, that it is just placebo effects, and all of the other crapola that spews out of your mouth and out of your butt (that's where you speak from, right?) really are off-the-scale dumb shites, aren't they?

Think I've more than proven that by now, surely, or are you going to continue to be an ignorant dumb ars and believe the statements from the allopathic fools you quote but whom I have repeatedly shown are as stupid and as ignorant of homeopathy as are you and your buddies here, aren't you?

But you and the other idiots here really have been thoroughly proven to be stupid fools who don't know the slightest accurate thing about homeopathy and thus should shut up and listen since I'm an actual Hahnemannian homeopath, you fools!
