New bin Ladin tape offers 'truce'

Did I forget all the kidnapings and bombings in Asia?? My bad. They hate muslims because of that to. .001% of your popluation is causing the rest of you to be disliked by the entire world. Good luck.

Maybe im being to harsh. I dont hate all muslims. The world doesnt hate all muslims. But youre not doing yourselves any favors by bombing all of these countries.

May I suggest that you dont bomb Germany? You dont want to get their war machine going.

which brings up an interesting point

how would Hitler have reacted if there was a 9/11 in Germany in 1939?

maybe this deserves a separate thread...

May I remind you that Governments nowadays rarely speak for the people and I for one would be willing for negotiations. I would rather the 'terrorists' got up to their own lives rather than ruining ours. I wouldn't want to get a phone call saying someone I love has just been killed in a bombing because it was a retaliation against something I wasn't backing nor do I care about.

Also, the US is as much to blame as any of the so-called terrorists out there. They're war criminals themselves too you know. But US affairs are none of my own but I do disagree killing people who have no connection to any cause is wrong.

crazy151drinker: It's not the Germans they have to worry about, it's the French...I saw some on TV the other day with guns, honest to god, guns! I thought it was some kind of far out made for TV movie, but no! People are actually handing out guns to people in this so called 'French Army'. I've never heard of it, so it must be new...

a truce cannot be called, because it is not a war.

it would be a war if there were CIA cells blowing up busses in Ryadh or Mecca
then we could be talking about a truce

this is no war. it's a fucking game

I would rather the 'terrorists' got up to their own lives rather than ruining ours.

I think the point that they're trying to get at is that we're ruining their lives through occupation, denial of sovereignty, and imposition of cultural values.

Bush is as much a mass murderer as anyone else.
Just because one side is wrong, that doesn't make the other side right. I don't believe he ever intended to kill any innocent people.

The French with guns?? Maybe they did Clone Napeloen! I was right all along....

Hitler would have riled up the masses and it would have been the Arabs burning in the Ovens instead of the Jews.

I guess you missed my next post....

"Maybe im being to harsh. I dont hate all muslims. The world doesnt hate all muslims. But youre not doing yourselves any favors by bombing all of these countries."

But then again youre blind :)

"Stop spilling our blood to protect yours" ????

PM, is this a misinterpretation? Sounds almost like a bushism. A Bin Ladenism?

True and that is why most Europeans want Bush out of office.
Hell, I want him out, too, but not for that reason. Even an idiot can do the right thing sometimes by accident.

Wars are not only fought on the field but also in the media, through politics and elections. It could well be that Bin Laden attemps to use dividing tactics.

Eventhough the Europeans are somewhat lukewarm allies and we are not exactly trying to enforce the law (like the americans) in iraq, but rather like to stay within the perimetre of our compounds as not to fall prey to roadside bombs, presence of Europeans and other memberstates of the U.N. is essential to give the whole thing a touch of legitimacy.

Perhaps (if it's indeed bin laden speaking) to better mobilise the arab people he figures it would for the time being more productive if there was just one high profile enemy: the zionist boogeyman holding residence in israel and in washington and the American millitary presence in his country of birth: Saoudi Arabia.

I don't think Europe should pull out because some villain offers a truce (we should pull out for others reasons), but I can imagine, with our large population of muslimimmigrants wich we worry might catch the Jihad virus and the fact that many Europeans don't believe in the "just causes" for this war, I think a lot of Europeans would be somewhat sensitive for the Osama snake offering us an apple in the garden of Eden.

.... the same for Indonesia for example, it belongs to all Muslims all over the world not only Indonesian Muslims and the same apply for the 57 Muslim countries all over the world.
Living close to Indonesia we tend to have a lot of trade ties and news going back and forth. In a recent interview there were questions regarding the support of fundamentalist Islam in Indonesia. Before 9/11 and Bali the fundamentalist Islamists had a decent amount of support (not even close to majority but a fair number of people). This resulted in the populace turning a blind eye to some fundie Muslims trashing bars and ripping down Britney Spears posters, etc.....

However, now, there has been a bit of a backlash with support for the fundamentalists significantly dropping and the government cracking down on fundamentalists that break the law (such as trashing bars and other private property they don’t agree with). If you’ve seen the recent elections, it’s a fair call that the fundamentalist Muslims are no longer going to be tolerated by the people.

Anyway, when asked why? This university professor (an Indonesian Muslim) who teaches sociology said that – “for the most part Indonesians see themselves first as Indonesians and second as Muslims which is in contrast to Middle Eastern Muslims who define themselves as “Muslims” above anything else”. He then went on to talk about how Islam was introduced to Indonesia by traveling Sufis and trading. My point being that the way in which you were raised to think about Islam isn’t universal. As even you can attest to – just think the off-putting comments regarding Shia’s and their ideas of faith. Indonesians do not think that Indonesia in anyway belongs to Middle Eastern Muslims. I’m sitting here telling an Indonesian that works in the Building this and she’s laughing.

aahhh wouldn't bin laden need to be more threatening in order to make threats?
One would be forgiven for thinking he has run out of ideas.
One successful act of terrorism 3 years ago isn't good enough I'm afraid. That was only good for approximately 4 threatening audio tapes.
We should send him an audio tape back saying 'and you are?'

Spain decided to withdraw after Madrid bombings.
Yeah i couldn't believe that. I can only assume there is no word in spanish for dignity.
I'd be so ashamed if I was spanish.
And what a great message to send the terrorists  See how quick pm was to reply making that point? It just goes to show the mindset. This is what they think terrorism accomplishes and spain just validated their zany beliefs.
What a wussy country. Like a kid who gets a scrape in a football match and runs from the park wailing. Thats what it looks like.

I have a thing about self-entitled Americans, and I don't need to kill anybody to say it: Let's just fucking get over ourselves.

Between what the Christian Fundies, the Jewish Zionists, and the Islamist whackos want, or the flag-waving primates that armageddon sick of, well out there in between of all of us, there's a real world: Where people go to work, or sometimes spend lazy days out napping, or crapping, or really laughing, remembering how so many of us thought of shooting or looting their way to being more happy. It was crappy.

There. I feel better now.
