Certainly in her eyes Jesus was a loser. She doesn't even follow his teachings!

EVERYONE has choices. Lazy/stupid people make poor ones. I'm not talking about Ethiopia. I'm talking about Americans here and now.

Oh yeah, I'm sorry. I forgot the rest of the world is completely irrelevant and might as well burn in hell....

Fate is what happens when you fail to plan. I don't believe in luck when it comes to my life choices. Random luck in the lotto etc but not in self-reliance/responsibility issues. I was NOT born rich. I am self/God-made. And you HATE that, don't you?
No. What I hate is your repugnant hypocrasy.

Stop the personal attacks. They make you look weak and stupid. I see the big picture just fine. I'm not one of the broke losers around here.
You call that a personal attack? It's just an obvious observation.

Here it is again (Billy T version): Gold is almost up to 50% of the purchasing power it had at the 1980's peak. (Price corrected for inflation) :bawl:
Theres a graph I'd like to see...an ounce of gold relative to its purchasing power for the last century.

Or an ounce of gold relative to a barrel of oil.

This might be misleading because the government has artificially manipulated gold's value many times.

It used to have a fixed value ratio to silver for some time...and it was actually illegal to own gold for more than a decade, while the government was forcing citizens to accept paper money.

In spite of the fact that the constitution states clearly that ONLY gold and silver can be used as money!!!

Me too.

I believe there is no period in history of two decades or longer in which gold has not LOST PURCHASING POWER. For example, the current record high NOMINAL price has not yet even recovered half of of the purchasing power gold had at last high (in 1980).

Gold is risky to keep at home (can get you killed) earns nothing and cost to safely store (in bank safety box, etc.) and if you hold only paper certificates, it is highly likely the total ounces of all those certificates are much more than the total ounces in actual gold.* (That is how paper money began in middle ages.)

*When all simultaneously want their gold, they will not get it and there is NO government insurance that they will as there is for money in bank account, when bank fails.

While posting, CNBC's "Squak Box" just noted Ford stock is at 22 year low and Ford now has less than 13% of the US market.

....St. Louis Federal Reserve President William Poole said he believed the economy would continue to grow this year, avoiding a recession. ...
Did you expect otherwise? Goldman Sacks is not responsible for the economy and can be more honest. They predict a recession.

Billy T predicted all that is now happing some years ago. Also more than year ago, Billy T predicted a run on the dollar occurs between Oct 2008 and Oct 2014 and that run rapidly leads to depression worse than 1929 in both EU and US, but not in China & India or countries like Brazil which supply them with food stocks, raw materials and energy.

GWB's wars and doubling of the US debt have made it impossible for next president to avoid that depression. - I will vote Republican to help get the blame correctly assigned.

There will be no recession much less depression.

As I own India's Tata Motors stock I recieved following comment by Ford:

Ford will close sale (to Tara) of Jaruar and Land Rover divisions in first quarter of 2008. Article also gave data on Ford in US:

"...Toyota Motor Co. surpassed Ford to become the second-biggest auto maker in terms of U.S. sales in 2007. Ford had held the spot for 75 years, reported a 12% drop in sales to 2.572 million vehicles, while Toyota's sales were up 3% at 2.62 million vehicles. ..." as noted in my prior post, Ford stock is at 22 low and has less than 13% of US market, but their sales in China's booming economy are up 30%!

When US ford goes bankrupt do you think that Toyota will honor the Ford waranties (assuming Ford's dead US shell is sold to Toyota)?

I don't think Americans will embrace Tata. Kind of like Kia. A flash in the pan--especially after it was proven their cars are cr@p. We like Japanese cars because they're made well, last long, have few problems etc...:)

The unions screwed up American quality. Lazy losers were paid to produce below-average cars. The unions protected the losers' jobs.:(

I'm all for buying American cars if they are made well or if I'm just going to use them as disposable cars. Like the Caliber. I just bought it to beat around in. I know it won't last long.

I like Japanese and Italian cars the best. They're made very well.

Probably will not get the chance to for many many years as Tata is targeting Indian familys on motor bikes first, then exports to China, Brazil etc. and not to US or EU.

However, if Joe American, one of your "loser," were able to buy a four-door, four-passenger, never rust (plastic body), 50mpg, >50m/h on highway, automatic continuous gear ratio, easy to park in city car that Tata is about to start selling for 100,000 Rupies (10 Lakh, I think, but definitley less than $3000 US dollars) he would jump at the chance.

Doesn't sound very different from my first new car, the Geo Metro. Cost a little less than 6k brand new, got over 50 mpg. Good little car. Not much resale value, though. The jerk offered me $200 for it as a trade in, so I just gave it to my sister.

You mean Italian like Fiat?

No. Fiat was a fiasco. I mean Lamborghini and Ferrari.:bravo:
I LOVE Ferrari. My all-time favorite cars!

I thought Jag was already British. That's why they had so many electrical problems. EVERY British car ever owned by any of my friends/family has had problems.

I had a Jag XKE many years ago. It always overheated in West Texas Summer. I could not use the A/C. It did have minor electrical problems like the weld in the relays will corrode and go out. Luckily I was in a desert country...imagine people in wetter areas...

But when working, it drove like a dream. If one is not careful, it will hit 90 mph before you feel anything. At 75 mph, it will feel like the car is not moving at all.

I know! Jag is a sweet car. If they could fix the electrical problems, they would have a great car.:)

I just visited daughter in Malvern PA. My grand children, by her, go to Wayne elementry school. She noticed your "Mad Anthony Wayne"
and told me of him. Do you live near her or are just a history buff? He got the "mad" prefix because of his thirst for battle she said.
I live in Fort Wayne, Indiana. When I first moved here back in 2002, I had never heard of Anthony Wayne. I kept seeing his name around town and did some research on him.

While General Wayne was originally from PA, probably his greatest military victory occured at Fallen Timbers which is near Toledo, Ohio. It was this battle that basically brought order to the Northwest territory and prevented the British and other foreign powers from moving in. Shortly after that battle, he established Fort Wayne, which grew to become my fair city.

His exploits in the Northwest territory and the Revolutionary war make him one of the lesser known American heros. If not for his victory at Fallen timbers, American might not have extended even to the Mississippi. And it was mainly his death at the young age of 51 that prevented him from playing a more prominent role in US politics.

So I choose him as my internet avatar to, perhaps, raise his profile a bit and honor a relatively unknown American hero.

Thanks for the infro - I gave daughter link to your post. (She is elementary level teacher now.)

As I recall, Barry Goldwater once suggested that the US would be better off after the "big one" if CA did sink into the Pacific. (Possibly he just wanted
Arizonia to have ocean shore line. I wonder if McCain has same POV?)

As California is quite liberal and west of the Mississippi, I am a little surprized a "right leaning" guy like you wants to honor him for helping make CA part of the USA. :D

Are you kidding? Liberals prvide tax cuts for the lower classes, which improves the economy. Its bad if you are rich, but good for the working class!:D

There are plenty of CCRs in CA. I own property all over the state. So do many of my CCR friends. We can despise the liberal attitude of most of the people in the state but we still love the actual state. It is the most beautiful, exciting, fun state in the country imo.

There's nothing wrong with the economy. Employment is high. So are savings account/CD yields. Interest rates are low. Stock market is great. It's just the stupid illiterate/deceitful people who couldn't figure out a mortgage application that are ruining it for a while.
The lower classes pay little/no tax. Rich people pay most of it.

The Northwest territory was the territory that became Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin. Without Mad Anthony Wayne, the US might not have extended even that far! Let alone to California.

But, regardless, no California would mean no Ronald Reagan, no hollywood, no gold rush. Even with all the liberals, California is worth keeping.
