Who knows, maybe God could have a God, just as a father has a father. Maybe it's an evolving cycle. The one, or DNA, which is chosen through time may rise up and be given the title of God or the position. The one which passes all tests, through this earth and the upcoming ones. As the universe is infinitely larger and smaller, maybe the Gods have Gods to infinity. Rising up through the ranks. Seems crazy, I know, but who knows. Probably not for us to know.

That's the problem with the human mind, we have a hard time understanding something that doesn't exist linearly.

I've thought of that possibility. But the problem is;
Problem 1) Imagine God "A" ranked 21st, and God B ranked 40th. They both create little creatures that are eventually given the rank of "God". Who is ranked above whom? The ones that sprang from A were in a universe above B, so what is the conclusion?
Problem 2) If God A has a problem with God B, would he go to war with him or just blink him out of existence because he is ranked below A.
Yes these are "humanlike" problems, but I can't imagine populations of gods and universes blending perfectly with one another. This framework is very military-like (rising through ranks), I doubt the "supreme" god would have created something like that.
