Jesus

Tiassa:

If you think that there are scholars who wouldn't waste there time on me, then I won't waste my time on you.

Jesus may have known who he was, a Jewish theologian, or he may have been delusional, or he may have spoken in poetic language which few understood. But do we know who he was? Almost certainly not. Everything we think we know has come through the psyche of Paul. And Jesus may not have been all that unique.

Blessed are the cheesemakers.

I think raising the dead, walking on water, turning water to wine, turning 3 fish into 300 and proclaiming to be the only begotten son of GOD even though he'd die a terrifying death is pretty unique. Do you think?

I like the quote attributed to Gandhi that he probably didn't say in these exact words but they make the point anyway, "I like your Christ but I don't like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ".
He was a twisted man. Christians at least try.

The British (Christians) were trying to hold on to their indian empire with force and Gandhi was trying to get them to leave by peaceful demonstration. And you say he was a twisted man??

You might find this video interesting, if you don't fancy watching it all, skip to Number 1.

Jesus was born Jewish he was brought up as a Jew and embraced the Jewish religion. He seemingly knew he was special and by all accounts(birth, miracles) he was. Being Jewish he obviously felt if his father was God it must be the god of the old testament.
It's the only god he knew. As to limited contact, I don't recall there being any. He talked to Jehovah, just as any other Jew might, but if he got an answer, I don't recall anywhere it was recorded. Jehovah talked to Noah, Abraham, Cain, Job, Moses, couple of other OT chosen ones; angels delivered messages to Peter, Mary and Joseph, Daniel, Jacob, Samson... I forget whom-all else. He just wasn't taking any calls from Jesus - maybe didn't want to show too much favouritism, having already gifted him with magical powers; maybe didn't want to discuss the endgame, whatever.

If Jehovah was a fraud, then the modern Christian god is a fraud, because it's the Christians who raised Jehovah out of his provincial roots to world-dominion, then universe-dominion, and hung all those omnis and responsibilities on the poor guy.

Every monotheistic religion would be a fraud. Not just christianty.

Yes, who is this Jehovah character? Is he a an old man with enough power to change the direction of humanity by playing civilisation on his computer? Who is the real God? How do gods get their power? Is it based on how many followers it has? The Sumerian gods have a point system, the more points you have the more power you have. Enki and his brother enhil have(or maybe had) 50 points each, while their offspring had up to 20(Marduk being an exception). The Sumerians acknowledged a vastly more powerful God above themselves. The Sumerian civilisation were much more useful then the Jewish people, and a lot older based on evidence. So were their gods more powerful then Jehovah? The possibilities are endless. To get anywhere, religion should be abolished, a fair fight instead of filling peoples head full of dogma.

Try what? That's the problem. They far too often succeed, them being so much richer and better-armed than the pagans.
Christians... yeah, who are christians? I class a christian one who walks the walk so to say. Try to be good people, that's all Jesus really taught.

If you mean Judaism and Islam, of course. Same roots; same god.
Yes, who is this Jehovah character?
Main protagonist of this big book. It's a fun read.
The Sumerian civilisation were much more useful then the Jewish people
To whom?
So were their gods more powerful then Jehovah?
Of course, as long as they were powerful. Once the Romans adopted Jehovah, he became more powerful than the gods of Europe. When France, England, Portugal and Spain grew empires of their own, they were able to extend and expand his power. That's how it works.
Nothing is ever abolished; it just goes out of style.
Nothing is ever fair, especially fights.
I class a christian one who walks the walk so to say.
That's your prerogative.
