Jesus names as evil those who think his Father would break heavenly law and have him

A poor example. That is not murder and no intelligent person would call it that and no one would be found culpable of anything except for the rapist.

Unlike God, man demands that you have an evil heart or intent when doing a crime and you obviously would have been motivated by defence and love and not an evil hating mind.

I would have thought that you would have known this. Perhaps you are a bit too Christian. They tend to have problems with moral issues.

The example would work better if you caught the perpetrator after the act, his guard down, and you are in position to smite the perpetrator with your shotgun.

Then did you hesitate? I didn't.

If justice in the universe is a process in that moment I participate.

I hear you and I would do the same. The thing is, I would have to aim to allow for life as I believe in reciprocity tempered by mercy as the perpetrator was created by society and did not learn to be what he is in a vacuum. Society must take it's share of the blame and apply mercy.

Justice and reciprocity indicates, unfortunately, that the perpetrator should live.

We all have to pay a price for justice and part of that price is restraint of our emotions and desire for revenge.

So let me understand this. How do you know who the perpetrator is? Did you see him in the act? But were defenseless to act at the time, so you would extract revenge later. Is that the story?

In our country that is murder, and not be justified. You would have to report it and let the wheels of Justice take its course.
From a "you sin when you sin-not" perspective it was important to do the right thing and revenge is never the right thing, is it?

Is it revenge or justice? In such a scenario did God want to know what it would be like for me to restrain myself or did he want to experience the death of the perpetrator?

Assume he is completely guilty, you know he is, you would be absolved legally...but you could spare him if you chose to.

That is the difficult scenario IMO. The dead never come back and there is no true human justice for a murder.

I would probably become a killer but of course I could never know and hopefully never do.

Then, if you felt this was the right thing to be the hand of God and send the killer to his great reward did you sin?

You might not see it as revenge but justice.

I would probably blow his brains out instead of shooting him in the gut as a measure of mercy.

Why would the perpetrator need to live? To restore harmony to the universe by some future possible good the perpetrator may do?

It's an honest question.

I still want to know how you would know? Any of those detective stories the first suspect is often not the one who did it. So how would you know?

Assume you witnessed it, but could not prevent it. Now you have the chance to kill the perpetrator or not and would be absolved from a legal standpoint based on an armed, violent intruder being in your home yet you are the only one who knows you could spare him if only you wanted.

I went through something like that and the Lord said "Let bygones be bygones".
But every case will be different and I'm unsure, but either way do what you think is right and trust in the power of forgiveness.

It's an honest question.

Mercy is not for him as much as it is for our own conscience.

If we just kill killers without mercy, it is like saying they were born that way and do not deserve to live.

That would ignore that fact that his upbringing and the social conditions he was raised in were what caused him to be as he is. That is us.

That is just ignoring societies part in raising him. For fairness and justice, we as a society and we as individual members of it must take our share of his blame.

In most cases we create or make murderers. Babies are not born murderers.

We would in effect be burying our own mistakes instead of facing them and doing something about them.

No civilized society can says that life should be venerated while at the same time taking it when there are other options.

Societies and their members have to walk their talk.

You seem like a very good person. Thanks for sharing. I think you are right.

And you got all this information from where?

Many places but mostly just from thinking on my own.

Is that not how you form opinions or will my view only make sense to you if it was already written down somewhere and peer reviewed?

I liked very much reading this threads beginning. It is an unfit man or woman of child or children whom prides,as privy win. Satan would have something to say to such an house of cards, yet such dwellors don't even care for the word good well enough to think of the honesty of Jesus and the warning of Satan. The biblical stories deserve honesty.
many fail choosing honesty to partner sin. many choose for honesty to be greater than such taking honesty as a daily living will.

Thanks.

One can only serve honesty if one one has one moral standard. Unfortunately, Christians have to have two sets in order to forgive their genocidal son murdering God for things that they condemn man for doing.
