Cain stepped down from his position as CEO and President of the Pizza chain in 2002

In article published in Bloomberg Businessweek by Tim Jones got the story right. It came out on June 6, 2011[7], the same week that PolitiFact published its article. It noted that he closed 20 percent of the company’s 640 restaurants and fired 300 to 400 people. Jones perceptively wrote, “He is a politician, just one who hasn’t held office. And like most politicians’ log cabin stories, Cain’s oft-told tale of how he rescued Godfather’s is kind to its hero and notable for what it leaves out.” He notes that Cain “has not released details of the company’s performance under his leadership” and ends by correctly stating:

The bottom line: Though Cain says he would revive the economy as he did Godfather’s Pizza, it’s not clear the chain improved much when he was CEO.

Maybe you ought to try expressing yourself clearly, rather than in a series of phone-text-speak sound bites like you usually do.

Just a thought.

here is one of mine
if something is not clear, ask for a goddamn clarification!
how many times have i told you this?
stop abusing your mod privileges

your lack of comprehension should not be my problem
i should not be banned for your illiteracy
do you fucking understand this?

these are the sordid tactics endorsed and employed by the people that run sciforums. they profess confusion and misunderstanding but a clear pattern of conduct in similar vein can be discerned. the reversals of infractions throughout the years establishes that. their lack of a response when confronted with misconduct is another easy giveaway

there is a deliberate misreading of my posts stemming from the overt hostility and hatred the mods have towards me. the goal is to permanently ban.

There are two other notable Indians/Hindus on this forum, Sam and rcscwc.
Essentially, they display traits that are the same as yours - and they are traits that (esp. US) Westerners tend to find offensive.
It is a kind of directness and aloofness, a considerable measure of self-respect that for Western terms is too much.

we will resist. we reserve the right to remain direct and aloof. we will fight for justice, dignity and humankind.
we will persevere!

Gustav, I'll be honest here - if you were so inclined, you could just let this all get swept under the rug and continue the conversation with the moderation team in private - if you feel you were unjustly punished, fine - I know I for one am not perfect and have no problem letting other moderators weigh in on what I say, and I'm sure the same can be said of everyone here - otherwise, there would only be need for one or two moderators who's say would be final.

However, airing your "dirty laundry" in public like this... it isn't bound to make you any friends. I'm remaining neutral because I don't have all the facts - thing is, if I were to judge you as a person based only on this thread... well, the opinion would not exactly be a grand one.

If you REALLY feel wronged - be the bigger man, take it to a private venue, and talk it out rationally. Trying to paint yourself as some kind of "innocent victim" isn't going to help your case, especially as, unless I'm mistaken, Sci-Forums isn't moderated via public vote or popular decision, but by how the moderators see fit for the betterment of the community.

In closing... Gustav, please, let it drop - the infraction was (so it seems) reversed - don't continue to dig yourself a grave over a (possible) mistake/misunderstanding that was already resolved.

I'm with Gustav on this. Being the victim of JamesR's haphazard moderation had changed my opinion.

To avoid such misunderstandings in the future, I suggest that, in general, you avoid insulting other people. It's probably good advice for life, too.

i am to blame for the ban

Quite clearly, there were at least TWO people who perceived your post as an insult directed at adoucette.

I don't think it is anything particularly personal.

does not equal

I think more than anything this illustrates my point... by "I don't have all the facts" I mean "I don't know you OR James personally, nor do I know everything about the previous interactions between you, NOR do I know if you guys have, or of, any personal grudges"... in other words, not only do I not know all the situations, I don't know the people involved.

As for the "OMG Culture Clash"... bwu huh? Being "aloof" isn't really a cultural thing, and God knows I'm not asking you all to "lay it all bare" - there ARE some things that just dont' need to be shared, after all... but culture clash?

You are not alone in this, and this is not racial or national.
It is a clash of characters.

(Granted, there is a type of character that is more prevalent in Indians than in Westerners. But this is actually beside the point.)

I take an interest in this issue as I myself have an unwarranted infraction (not by JamesR).
Everytime I log into Sciforums and check my UserCP, I see it there, and am reminded of how things are here.

culture clash?

Yes.

There are vast differences between members of this forum in how open, straightforward and generous they are in their dealings with others; how they reply to apparent injustices; what their efforts are to be communal.

For the uses of this forum, it might be more suitable to talk about "character clash" rather than "culture clash", because the conflicts happen on a one-person-to-one-person level, rather than on the level of one nationally/racially coherent group of posters against another nationally/racially coherent group of posters, albeit the person's character is shaped by their culture of origin.

Ah, okay, now I get what you're talking about - the nuances in how a person expresses themselves, not their inherent culture, right?
