The problem is that the cross-burning symbolizes hatred. And while that may not be justification for physical violence, I believe anyone who is trying to convey a message of hatred and ignorance and lies, should be prosecuted under just that, hate-speech.
And you are to be the arbiter of what is "hate speech" and what is not ?

I don't trust your judgment. And I don't necessarily think expressions of hatred should be prosecuted. Are people to be forbidden expressions of hatred ?

IIRC you completely missed the symbolism of the "Piss Christ", and took that for hatred and insult as well. You would be banning books and movies right and left, because you took them for insults. Bag that - people should be able to express hatred and insult.

What do you think of the concept of Wilders movie?

The problem is that the cross-burning symbolizes hatred.

It symbolizes heat when you're cold, light when it's dark and good eating when you're hungry.

And while that may not be justification for physical violence, I believe anyone who is trying to convey a message of hatred and ignorance and lies, should be prosecuted under just that, hate-speech.

You, or anyone else is free to lobby your government and make it a law.

Again, criticism and hate-speech are not the same.

Neither justify violence on your part.

The problem, as stated before, isn't the actual physical book being destroyed, but the symbolism behind that.

There are no laws for symbolism. Try again, if you wish. You're getting nowhere fast. :D

That is exactly what Norsefire and all the Muslims believe, THEY are the arbiter's of what THEY think/believe/imagine to justify the use of violence. The Quran demands this.

For all you or I know, it could be dead on factual.

Because Wilder is such a well known scholar of Islam?

Is that like all the Jews in Germany believing they were not a blot on humanity? Should they have bowed to the "popular" opinion of the time?

There are no laws for symbolism.

Are you quite quite certain of that?

Why would he need to be a scholar of Islam? Idoit.

Trolling.

Yes. And I'm happy to see you actually have the ability to do a google search. Congratulations.

Oh, one thing, you forgot to put the word 'Denmark in your search.

IOW, you don't require a person to have the credentials to be considered valid about the contents of a book. Does he need to have read it in the original or is that also not required?

Credentials? For a book of fairy tales? Laughable.

Of course, you'll find any fallacious excuse to make the argument invalid.

Wrong again.

Why my dear, that is the argument used by evangelicals against evolutionists.

Uh-uh

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today praised a decision by the Supreme Court of Denmark paving the way for the trial in Germany of American neo-Nazi Gary Lauck, a major supplier of anti-Semitic propaganda. The Court's action upheld two lower court rulings ordering the extradition of Lauck to Germany, where he faces charges of incitement, encouraging racial hatred, distributing illegal propaganda and Nazi symbols, and belonging to a criminal group.

"We commend the Danish Government for its pursuit of Lauck's extradition and for defending its decision throughout the appeal process," said David H. Strassler, ADL National Chairman and Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director. "We are confident that the German authorities will vigorously prosecute Lauck, whose inflammatory racist and anti-Jewish materials have been an essential component of the murderous German neo-Nazi movement.

It doesn't sound like it has a concept - more of a rant. Is that what you meant by "concept of Wilder's movie" ?

But I haven't seen it. It could have a concept - what used to be called "street theatre", like the guys who threw money from the visitor's balcony of the New York Stock Exchange unto the trading floor - and I doubt I'd approve of it. No sense of humor - which is the key.
