yeah it does bother me, because i see communion with god and with each other as the solution to all of our problems.

Then why is it that when two sides that are in conflict and both "believe" in the same god there's only one side that will eventually be the victor and the other gets killed.

there's really no victor when there's conflict. everyone ends up losing. communion levels the playing field; ensures that everyone wins.

Then god should either clarify once and for all without misunderstanding what he wants, and stop allowing different beliefs to exist that counter each other, often with violence.

i agree with you. that's actually what communion would accomplish.

Lori, the difference between your pathetic existance and my pathetic existance is that you need god to survive in your pathetic existance.

I don't. And that makes my pathetic existance that much better, because it means I don't need some imaginary friend to 'help me'.

It's all very difficult to reconcile all these differing revelations of god unless you assume that they are made up by each individual, then it all makes sense.

Makes you wonder why he didn't do it to begin with.

I mean, I think the reason is that he isn't there to do that, but if you do think he exists, why allow the mess to start in the first place?

i think it's part of our evolution. and that the acquisition of the knowledge of good and evil is apparently painful, but not pointless. i think we'll get it right eventually.

I agree with you.

I just don't think it's because of a deity.

It's a small step from "God talks directly to me" to "God wants me to "cleanse" the world".

I don't think so.

There is plenty of mystics who have claimed that God talks to them, and none of them was a terrorist.

i survived before i knew god existed.

I think it is a strange notion that different people, at different times, in different circumstances, at different levels of spiritual attainment
would or should all have the exact same idea of God.

Duh. Even if you win the pathetics olympics, you're still pathetic.

I didn't realize all the ideas of god were the same. So why all the conflict throughout history?

you think there is a right answer though? and you think that nature will achieve it?

A single Right Answer, no, but I think we as humans can get better with time. Nature itself just does what works to continue...that's evolution. But we can make choices, whereas nature cannot.
