nds: This is the most heavily debated topic on this entire site. It's time that we gave it its own thread.
Questions to consider:
1) Did a physical man named Jesus exist who preached and did works as described in the Bible?
If number one is yes:
4) Did the physical man Jesus live a 100% sinless life from birth to death?
Another important issue to consider:
There are only 4 books of the entire Bible which have direct quotes of Jesus.
Many of these quotes are usually very long speeches, as in the "beattitudes" speech. No man could write down every single word Jesus spoke when he spoke them. Therefore, all those long speeches were not the exact words of Jesus. They were what the author paraphrased them to be, or what the author thought Jesus might say. It would be impossible for anyone to remember exactly what Jesus said during a long speech and then record it word for word on paper afterwords. So the authors of Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John, whoever they were, didn't even quote Jesus directly. They wrote what Jesus probably would have said.

Jesus said:
John 14
25 “These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
1) Did a physical man named Jesus exist who preached and did works as described in the Bible?
not proven.Yes.
2) Was Jesus the "Son of God"?
not proven.Yes through the power of the Holy Spirit.
3) Was Jesus the "Son of Man"?
still not proven, but for the sake of arguement.Yes through Mary.
4) Did the physical man Jesus live a 100% sinless life from birth to death?
if he existed at all, this is would be impossible, as he was born with original sin intact, through Mary
5) Could Jesus have sinned?
do you understand what perfect means. It was against His will to sin. Can a Perfect being go against their perfect will?

Out of a total of 1,071 verses, Matthew has 387 in common with Mark and the Gospel of Luke, 130 with Mark alone, 184 with Luke alone; only 370 being unique to itself.

So Luke never even met Jesus or heard any of his speeches. He wrote what Jesus would have probably said.
I think it is quite obvious that these guys were making shit up. To whit:
There are three quotes given between the four books for what Jesus' last words on the cross were. Surely people would be able to get this shit right!
There are four versions of who went to the tomb and what they found there. One angel, two angels, rock already rolled back, rock rolled back as they watched, etc...
Infallible? First-Hand accounts?

Did a physical man named Jesus exist who preached and did works as described in the Bible?
So evidence points to the existence of a physical man whom the people of that time called Jesus Christ.
True, if years right now are based on Before Christ (BC) and After Christ's Birth (AD) then there had to be some man in existence who had some kind of effect on enough people to base the calender years around his existenece
