Definition of a troll....

Best thing one can learn in school is how to learn.
That would be true in my opinion. Teaching is not a difficult job, anybody of modern times with a laptop and internet access can teach. It is not difficult to simply share and recite present information to an audience, tell them remember the information word for word and they will pass all their exams. We teach maths for sure, that is different, a person has to think. Maths is good.

We should teach maths and English and then teach people how to think and learn themselves discovery.

School learns you how to remember what they teach, real learning is thinking for yourself.
That is entirely dependent on the student.

A student who just wants to remember what they teach, will do just that.
A student who wants to learn will leverage what they are taught and explore on their own.
Finally, a student who doesn't want to learn at all will dismiss school in favour of convincing themselves that they know* stuff.

*Because, when it comes right down to it - how would you know if you knew anything?? You could decide that 1+1=3, and you'd have no education or community to tell you otherwise.

A valued point by yourself, I like to explore on my own but also like to ''teach'' myself . By this I mean for example, I found my way here to ''teach'' myself , with the help of other teachers. People who only learn are the ones who do not ''teach'' themselves.

p.s I know you will say I learn but that depends how you look at it.

I have been bullied many times on the Internet and I can say for certain that the Internet is full of trolls and bullies.

I have been bullied many times both offline and online so I know what it's like.

My definition of a troll is someone who makes me ANGRY! Nah, just kidding. My definition of a troll is someone who makes foolish or provocative posts in order to get a negative reaction from someone.

I think my definition is really someone unwilling to take on board others' opposing or differing views and ready to use all means to "talk over" ignore" or otherwise get around the seeming obstacles to having his or her own view accepted as correct.

There seem so many aspects and contexts to trollish behaviour that one description does not seem to fit all.

Winston Churchill was probably viewed as a troll by his colleagues at the time when there was nothing really to provide hope and yet he did not sue for a peace with dishonour.

The best clinical definition I've found is "Histrionic Personality Disorder". But you knew that.
