As for names. I have always loved "Aldebaran" The eye of the Bull (constellation of Taurus) i am told.

Anyone know more about this name?

I don't know much about Aldebaran, but my pets in the sky are the stars that make up the belt of Orion. I've heard they're called El An Ra, but I can't remember where. I also like Rigel for some reason.
