This is good. At least I think so.

Sigh. Ok spidergoat. But I would like to point out we aren’t invading other places and not following your rules. We aren’t disrupting anyone else or invading other boards with our annoying conversations.Ok, people, the way this works is you create a thread on a topic, then discuss the topic in that thread. We don't just free form chat about whatever comes up. You see it has structure. There is already a thread or two about guns. Try it, it's fun!
I would agree with that statement, but that's not anything new. If anything, boys were taught to deal with their emotions even less a generation, two generations three generations ago, yet we did not have the problems we have with school shootings.I took something different from it. I do believe that boys, future men, are not taught how to deal with emotions.
When was the first school shooting? Seems like a long time ago.I would agree with that statement, but that's not anything new. If one believes Wikipedia, the "first school shooting" was in the 18th century. There have always been shootings to some degree, but nowhere near the extent to which we see them now. For example, in the 1940's there were 8 shootings resulting in 11 deaths. In the 1950's, there were 17 school shootings resulting in 13 deaths. There have been 8 school shooting incidents this year, and it's March 1st. The dynamics clearly changed with Columbine in 1999, but why? Again, boys were not "nurtured" or better taught to deal with their emotions in the 1940s or 1950s than they are now. If anything, that aspect of child rearing was even worse then. When was the first school shooting? Seems like a long time ago.
It certainly isn’t black and white. Why does it seem some young, white, American males have gone this violent route. We don’t have shootings with this frequency up here. I don’t think they happen anywhere else in the world with this frequency. If one believes Wikipedia, the "first school shooting" was in the 18th century. There are no silver bullets so don't expect a single answer but back to my 14th birthday present of a 16 gage, it would hold a max of 5 shells and to make it legal for duck hunting, that had to be plugged for no more than 3.The dynamics clearly changed with Columbine in 1999, but why? You are supposed to do that. I think participation is good. Get out of your bubble!Sigh. Ok spidergoat. But I would like to point out we aren’t invading other places and not following your rules. We aren’t disrupting anyone else or invading other boards with our annoying conversations.
The availability of more lethal weapons, be it AR15, Tec-9, or a 9mm Glock, has certainly upped the body counts, but it doesn't explain the increase in frequency of shootings. The guns facilitate killing, but they don't give one the urge to do so. Like you say, there are no "silver bullets" (pun intended?)There are no silver bullets so don't expect a single answer but back to my 14th birthday present of a 16 gage, it would hold a max of 5 shells and to make it legal for duck hunting, that had to be plugged for no more than 3.
Everyone does.We like our bubble.
Perhaps we are a little “gun shy” but I appreciate your input. Perhaps when I’m a little more familiar with the format and the rules, I will venture out in the scary forum world lolYou are supposed to do that. I think participation is good. Get out of your bubble!
You also don't have homicides in general like the US does. Consider this - even if ALL gun homicides were removed form the statistics, the US homicide rate would still be double or more that of other western democracies. Why are Americans so willing to kill one another...with a gun or without? It certainly isn’t black and white. Why does it seem some young, white, American males have gone this violent route. Again, back in the day... yes, boys were raised to not deal or show emotion... keep it to yourself... most, at least, were also raised to control any emotions that would cause violent behavior.I would agree with that statement, but that's not anything new. If anything, boys were taught to deal with their emotions even less a generation, two generations three generations ago, yet we did not have the problems we have with school shootings.
I'm sure we newbies will venture out to annoy everyone else in due time when we become comfortable with this environment. Until then, I suggest you count your blessings. We're mostly a polite and considerate bunch.Everyone does.

Go to the nearest homeless shelter and point a finger. Chances are good you'll find someone as good as or better than Kush-kush.Good morning folks. So, what do we have on CNN today? Looks like Kushner lost his top secret clearance. This is a true shame. Where else is this nation supposed to find someone with his depth and breadth of experience and knowledge on critical matters of security???

I would respectfully suggest that if you don't like the way this board is being run, you not visit. Easy solution!Sigh. Ok spidergoat.
