Christ means the "annointed one", and Buddha means "enlightened one".

So you can call Jesus a Buddha, from my perspective.

After all, their basic teachings are almost the same.

They both started preaching at the age of 30, even the Heb-sed festival of the egyptians was celebrated by most Pharaohs at age 30 on wich they died and were resurected by their wifes, symbolism of Isis resurecting Osiris in the start of times.

Identical Teachings

(3)
"Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. From anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them back." (Luke 6:27-30)

"Hatreds do not ever cease in this world by hating, but by love: this is an eternal truth. Overcome anger by love, overcome evil by good ... Overcome the miser by giving, overcome the liar by truth." (Dhammapada 1.5 & 17.3)

(4)
"Truly I tell you, just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me." (Matt. 25:45)

"If you do not tend one another, then who is there to tend to you? Whoever would tend me, he should tend the sick." (Vinaya, Mahavagga 8:26:3)

"Do not underestimate good, thinking it will not affect you. Dripping water can fill a pitcher, drop by drop; one who is wise is filled with good, even if one accumulates it little by little." (Dhammapada 9:7)

(9)
"Why do you see the speck in your neighbor's eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye? Or how can you say to your neighbor, "Friend, let me take the speck out of your eye," when you yourself do not see the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbor's eye." (Luke 6:41-42)

"The faults of others are easier to see than one's own; the faults of others are easily seen, for they are sifted like chaff, but one's own faults are hard to see. There's a great book on this subject called The Gospel According to Jesus: A New Translation and Guide to His Essential Teachings for Believers and Unbelievers by Stephen Mitchell. He draws alot of parallels between them.

Yes - that's him.

Siddhartha is the person responsible for all the collected teachings in the Pali Canon, which are the holy books of Theravada Buddhism (written at the first Buddhist Council - when Buddhism officially started).
Siddhartha is the one who discovered the Dhamma for the first time in our history (the lastest first Buddha).
Buddhism is based on the philosophy he discovered.

yeah he was in better shape than the other fat chinese ones.

he really let himself go after the first carnation huh :)

Hahaha, funny man, but that "fat buddha", is actually the way some Oriental folks picture the Buddha, but is not because he was actually fat, but because it represents prosperity for them.

I think Krishna's teachings are a lot more similar than Jesus's and Buddha's teachings....and that Buddha and Lao Tzu's teachings are a lot more similar than Jesus and Buddha's teachings......although I do believe that both Jesus and Buddha were preaching the same truth....

Well yeah you have a very good point, but Buddha actually studied Krishna, Vishnu and Brahma.... they are from the same "movement" sort of speak, they all followed the same literature. Jesus knowledge came from elsewere, and even then, the basic teachings are the same.

Actually Gautama Buddha never studied Krishna or Vishnu, but he did mention Brahma...those scriptures didn't exist in Northern India at the time, where Gautama Buddha was....

Jesus and Krishna say very similar things, and have similar teachings in that they both teach devotion to God
Lao Tzu and Buddha say very similar things, and have similar teachings in that they both do not teach devotion to God

But they all have similar teachings, because they're trying to explain the same essential truth to mankind so that even you and I can understand the truth and achieve absolute bliss...

Although I wouldn´t dismiss Siddhartha studying Krishna or Vishnu, I can´t say he did either.

I agree with your perspective on this one my friend.

Buddha denied being a deity and was not into miracles as he knew they were false hopes, lies and illusion.

Jesus Christ on the other hand was woefully opposite as he claimed to be a deity and perform miracles.

[Deleted], they are as different as night and day.
