The Ark of the Covenant is one of the things in the Bible that is not metaphorical, it was pretty much exactly as it was described as. A kind of "battery" which could be charged with energy ("God") that could do amazing things. it could only be charged by holy people like moses or jesus, so even if it still existed, it wouldn't matter because it's run out of energy and there is nobody who can recharge it.
Everything in myths can't be explained with astrotheology, they're more than just astrology. For example, how does astrotheology explain the powers of the Ark? Why does it divide the Jordan river and other weird things?
It's very obvious that there is a lot of astrology in the Bible (and other religious books and myths). For example Jesus' 12 followers, 12 tribes, etc. represent the 12 constellations. however, just because there is astrology in the bible doesn't mean that none of the events and characters didn't exist. an event can be told both metaphorically and astrologically and still be true.
for example, moses did actually divide the red sea, but at the same time it can be a metaphor: http://www.theosophical.ca/RedSea.htm
The only ark that was a forerunner to all the ark myths is the Constellation of Argo.

I understand that its profoundly spurious, vague mumbo jumbo...most of the time.
