Are all discussions of God speculative nonsense?

Many quote God’s WORD as coming from God’s own mind somehow yet that same WORD says that God is unknowable, unfathomable and mysterious. That same WORD is full of contradictions which may help demonstrate that God truly does work in mysterious, illogical ways.

Those who say they know the mind of God, lie, if the Bible is to be believed. According to it, God is un-knowable.

Many claim a personal relationship to their God yet few will admit apotheosis.
Are you/they lying if no actual personal contact has occurred?

Are all discussions, of any God, just speculative nonsense, or can a man actually know something of God’s thinking?

Are we all just spinning our wheels in discussions.

It would be and should be speculative nonsense, or philosophy, but for the fact that people really do believe it.

Faith is what it is all about I would think. Believing in something that doesn't exist, to me, can only be done by faith about whatever belief you may have.

Ultimately, that would be the only conclusion. You can't really put that subject into words, but discussing it anyway does seem to have some merit.

No. If you look at the Bible or any other scripture, it says you can know God.
I know the Bible says you can't see the face of God and live, but I think that's only metaphorical. You see the face of God all the time (it's sometimes called "creation"). Perhaps what the Bible is really saying is that you can't see the face of God and maintain the idea that you exist, because that idea is only your ego and your own self-importance. After all, are you really important? How much does the world care about you and your existence? Does God care?
If God cares, then that helps you to cope with the inescapable conclusion that you aren't important at all, none of us are.

But again, a world created "for us" is another metaphor. God did this for us and all the animals and plants, because it's our job to prove we are worthy.

Don't take any of what I've said too literally. The ideas we all have of God are just a coping mechanism, really. But there is no rule that says you can't have fun coping with life.

Faith applies to the unseen and un-provable. Not something that does not exist. At least from the faithful's POV.

But even that faith should be tested by the faithful when they are told by some hierarchy what this God wants while at the same time as they tell you that what he wants cannot be known because of his mysterious ways.

Speaking of the Abrahamic cults only, how can one have fun in talking oneself into believing in a genocidal God who loves us?

Also. What merit do you see posters getting?
I do see some discussions but most posters end up agreeing to disagree or just cursing at each other.

by it's characteristics, and by the results of the interaction.

this isn't limited just to god. you can say the same thing about damn near anything, from the smallest of creatures to the universe. or a human...something we're intimately familiar with. i know myself to a degree but do not understand everything about myself, from the intricate workings of my psyche, to the complex biological functions that go on inside me every day.

i would love it if at some point you would realize how badly your agenda defeats your own better judgement. it's almost embarrassing to read.

But you do not read the biography (not cover to cover). You said you let the Holy Spirit lead you to various scriptures (parts) of the Bible to teach you. We have both discussed before that one can learn something from a comic book, a soap opera etc... What makes the Bible the be all end all for you instead of any other religious book? You've had experiences but so have other people who do not believe the same as you. What we are left with is this person arguing that their belief or experience is the correct way. How can they all be correct if they do not even agree with the other?

what i've experienced has confirmed and allowed me to understand the major tenets of the bible, and as you know, some specific scriptures.

yes.. because not 1 theist can present even the slightest shred of verifiable evidence, they always fall back to i have faith.
