A Poem Thread

thank you for that, immortal. ;)

one my fave poets...ee cummings...

since feeling is first
since feeling is first
who pays any attention
to the syntax of things
will never wholly kiss you;

wholly to be a fool
while Spring is in the world

my blood approves,
and kisses are better fate
than wisdom
lady i swear by all flowers. Don't cry
—the best gesture of my brain is less than
your eyelids' flutter which says

we are for each other: then
laugh, leaning back in my arms
for life's not a paragraph

And death i think is no parenthesis

I think you may be too old for me :)
Or perhaps just a little too bold
I lapse the memory
Can we put these gestures on hold?

I hope not for you.

A Puppy's Tale

The first thing she remembered upon opening her eyes
Dreams of emerald green fields and sapphire blue skies
Of running through the long grass with brothers and sisters by her side
She wished they were still with her, not gone off to hide
But she had a new home now and other friends to make
The little puppy never cried, just wagged her tail and smiled
For her new owners really loved her,
In their new home by the lake.

As time passed by the puppy grew and had a family of her own,
Oh how she loved her puppies as she watched them play and roam
But then a strange fear set in as the puppies started to grow
For it seemed she must already somehow know
Then the puppies all left for new homes of their own
Though she herself was once a little puppy now all big and grown
She felt the pain of tears as she was now left all alone.

Immortal didn't last that long!
Immortal banned forever
When will the ban end?
Never!

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Don't mock the banned
Or next...could be you
:p

Violets are not blue. Not sure why the original poet ever started that.

A Noiseless Patient Spider

By Walt Whitman

"A noiseless, patient spider,
I mark’d, where, on a little promontory, it stood, isolated;
Mark’d how, to explore the vacant, vast surrounding,
It launch’d forth filament, filament, filament, out of itself;
Ever unreeling them—ever tirelessly speeding them.

And you, O my Soul, where you stand,
Surrounded, surrounded, in measureless oceans of space,
Ceaselessly musing, venturing, throwing,—seeking the spheres, to connect them;
Till the bridge you will need, be form’d—till the ductile anchor hold;
Till the gossamer thread you fling, catch somewhere, O my Soul."

Imagine, by John Lennon...

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace

You, you may say
I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the world

You, you may say
I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will live as one

John Lennon rejected religion, you know. "Imagine", has been described as an atheist anthem. :D

lol i know. :eek:
but, sometimes, i wonder too. if there weren't all these divisions.
it isn't what God had in mind.
hugs to you trooper, hope you are well. :)

In good olde time I might. I'm not sure about it just yet.
But where is the poetry in that?

Oh, sorry. I thought it was fictional prose poetry. :D

Not really. It was just a way to prepare her for your creepiness kookiness. :eek:

Did you know that Edgar Allan Poe combined space and time into a single continuum in his poem Eureka?

To the few who love me and whom I love -- to those who feel rather than to those who think -- to the dreamers and those who put faith in dreams as in the only realities -- I offer this Book of Truths, not in its character of Truth-Teller, but for the Beauty that abounds in its Truth; constituting it true. To these I present the composition as an Art-Product alone:- let us say as a Romance; or, if I be not urging too lofty a claim, as a Poem.

What I here propound is true:- * therefore it cannot die:- or if by any means it be now trodden down so that it die, it will "rise again to the Life Everlasting."
Nevertheless it is as a Poem only that I wish this work to be judged after I am dead.

“A rational cause for the phaenomenon, I maintain that Astronomy has palpably failed to assign: -- but the considerations through which, in this Essay, we have proceeded step by step, enable us clearly and immediately to perceive that Space and Duration are one.”

I liked to read the Edgar Allen Poe writing Sir Trooper :)

here is a latest of mine.

*Shedding Wine Like Wildflowers*

Ladened my vice
with sticks of words
on a hand drum.

quiet I was seen
by my love.

O' new land.
lead me to the love song.

my match burnt.
it's all shaved ice.

and you.
sweet syrups...

quiet I was seen..
by my love.

a banner in the sky
with words
I Love Like Sugar & Spice.

O' new Land.

Well done, Anew!
I'm not sure why but it reminded me of "DACÃ".

If

If you could ever
Measure the immeasurable,
Take in the boundlessness
And, walking across nothingness,
Be neither one nor the other;

If you could ever
Be love without loving,
Be hope without hoping,
Be speech without speaking,
Be thought without thinking;

If you could ever
Hear the unheard,
Look into the unseen
And learn the unknown-
Would there be a new beginning?
