A second level of sub-forums might actually help thoughtful older threads not get so buried by * threads.

I started a thread in Linguistics to search for my word and one_raven came up with smarmy which is closer to what I was looking for than what I could think of.

And, you're right. Upon re-reading Will's posts it's obvious that he crossed the line. The only post that I read with racism was the "greesy Asian" comment, which I thought was a joke. (telling off-color jokes isn't expressly forbidden. . .)

Which it was -- until a couple insecure "ethnic members" took it very seriously and scientifically, as though it were an actual observation of skin rather than an observation of shady behavior. Truth be told, if you go back to page 4 or so, serious personal attacking was started by other highly defensive people, not me.

My opinion on the subject of grease? I blame their food.
