(1 or 2 missing rungs can be overcome, lose more and failer is sure to come. If you have a wooden ladder are the steps still called rungs?)

(I was going to say the same thing about missing rungs. But, some are crucial. And I'd think that rungs would only apply to the round steps. Flat steps on a ladder would probably be just called steps. More stairs than ladder. Ladder expert in the house?)
