Wondering if there's a way to increase my weight

How fo you get your BMI?
I'm underweight too. I have around 110 pounds... :/
Still, I also eat quite well. There was once I spent 3 hours eating meat in a barbecue in Brasil. 3 hours just eating, almost non-stop. All kinds of meat. Huuumm..... brasilian barbecue... :D
It's sooooooo delicious....

So... I went home that day and weighted myself. I gained about 1/2 pound. :bugeye:
No kidding. I'm dead serious. It's kinda sad.

Also, it seems that I have an specific time to gain weight. I tend to go up 10 kilograms, then stop and in a couple of years I go up more 10 kilgrams. It's kinda stupid, but my body does that. Dunno why.

Aaaanyways... any ideas what I can do? :/

Look at this page to get your BMI, I also did.

As for your problem, I have got the same one. I eat as much as my parents combined, but still they take on weight even thought they are more active than me. I stay as thin as I am, only possibilty to increase my weight is building up more muscle tissue.

I did some execising an year ago. It increased my weight slightly. Still, I'm often afraid to do exercises and lose weight. In fact, I tried to do heavy exercises and I lost some weight, so I just finished stopping... :/

So I guess light exercise is good and too much is bad? Can anyone confirm that?

Anyways... another problem is that we don't have much money. So sometimes I don't eat as much as I would like in order to economize some money. That makes the matters a little bit worse... :bugeye:

Thanks for the site btw... :)

TruthSeeker, you can not be 110 lbs, you're a guy and I'm a girl and I'm 106 lbs! My BMI is 16.5. *snif I lift weights, but since I'm a girl I sort-of need fat.

The brazilian barbique sounded great, yum!

If you weigh yourself, do it in the morning before breakfast. The weight you gained were 100% food and beverage, and only temporary.

Sorry to hear you can't afford to eat as much as you would like. If you're afraid to lose weight, you should do less cardio and more intense lifting. Don't do cardio eight hours before or after you've been at the gym, or you'll lose the essential energy your body needs to build muscle.

Light exercise is always good, too much of anything is bad. If your body respons badly to it, cut back and increase again slowly. Buy a barbell and work out at home, its free!

I'm just over 6 foot and weight 161 lbs and I'm healthy. All i need to do is to get rid of that little flab of mine. Sadly , my college work is killing me so, but tomorrow, I will go to the Gyme and lift some weight and Run like the wind!!

actualy a healthy BMI is usualy considered to be between 18 and 25.

To count your BMI you divide your wheight(kilograms) by your height sqaured (meters^2).

I'm about 1.85m and 80 Kg, which is a BMI of about 23. But about 3 years ago I was same height minus 2 to 3 centimeters and weighed 60 Kgs.

The solution was realy to eat lots and have seconds. About 2 years ago I began weight lifting 3 times a week and have been doing it since but not as much as before.

Lots of sleep is actualy recomended because it's during sleep that most of the recovery takes place.

I never do cardio anyways...

He can be, im 105.
BMI as far as im aware isnt directly relevent to health, i eat the right foods, exercise more than the recommended weekly amount and im still underweight by a long way.

i got banned from StraightDope for cursing at out of shape people and their ignorance of fitness so i will try to keep it tame here.

screw BMI ! the most useless measure, no it doesnt really measure anything its just a number.

unless you exercise a lot there is no point for you to be eating alot. that will only make you fat, insulin resistant, diabetic and eventually dead.

if you DO begin to exercise regularly then you should also increase caloric intake.

and oh yea, genetics are for amateurs. when you look at somebody like brad pitt and think i can't do it with my genetics you're only fooling yourself. anybody can do it.

if you want to be a professional bodybuilder then you need genetics, if you only want to look great then you just need knowledge and dedication.

I'm 15.1 on the BMI. 85 pounds, 5 feet 3 inches.
I tried gaining weight, but it didn't seem to work. I lifted weights twice a week, and tried eating more. Nothing happened. I probably gave up too soon, but I was discouraged and thought it was a waste of time.

You lifted weight only twice a week? Try doing it at least 10 minutes every day. For me it didn't work, but at least I got some muscles... ;)

Jesus... Not twice a week, 3 times a week. And for more than 10 minutes, because not just arms, but also legs and back need to get developed. The entire body needs to get muscle evenly otherwise it looks funny. Like, right arm has muscle, and left one doesn't

Heeeehehe... In particular if you are a guy... :D
Naahhh. I'm just kidding. That part of the body doesn't have muscles.... :D

Aaaaaaaanyways...
Yeah, I thought about that when I was doing exercises. But I didn't do it long enough to make a big difference...

you guys are even more clueless than folks over at straight dope.

StraightDopeMessageBoard is a hangout for 300 pound fat pigs that actually do know how to lose weight, but prefer to bitch and moan instead, or get a gastric bypass surgery.

and you, you like to bitch and moan how you touched a dumbbell once and didnt grow and that is a conclusive proof that you are simply incapable of building size.

without a GOOD personal trainer, or a good researching strategy it will take you years of training just to figure out how to do it right. most people NEVER learn how to do it right, i know people who have been working out for years and then finally they hire a personal trainer, and then most personal trainers dont have a clue themselves.

if you do figure it all out, like i did, and you do the same thing for your diet, then you put it all to work for about 2 - 4 years -- you will be living with the constant urge to rip your shirt off and let everybody marvel at your physique. NO JOKE !

Androgen theres a difference between gaining weight and building muscles up, gaining weight doesnt need a trainer, building muscles does.
