Most Wiccans don't literally believe in "spells". It's more like prayer in Abrahamism- it's mostly a ceremonial ritual, and a way to get petty emotions out in a manner which harms none. What proof is there that magic exists?
Now, there is something plausible behind the phenomenon they call "magic", in the form of certain naturalistic phenomena which they give a blanket term for. For example, there is a such thing as manipulating electromagnetic and gravitic fields to induce some sort of effect. It's mainly an issue of capability, practice, and thought processes to induce those effects.
Of course, human minds aren't nearly developed enough to do wholesale telekinesis, but the trained mind is capable of some form of energy manipulation.
Something in that manner, which is a wholly natural phenomenon, can be misconstrued and has been labelled as "magic" by lay observers.
