Why do we like our food hot?!

What about the heat thing, too? Wouldn't human prefer hot food since it wouldn't mess with your core temperature?

Already asked and answered. ;) Comparing the amount of heat contained in your body mass to that in (or not in, in the case of cold foods/drinks), the effects aren't even worth measuring. Too small to really matter.

Maybe we like hot food because it usually means it is cooked. Cooked food means less bacteria and less bacteria means less illness, so by association we have learned to prefer cooked food to raw and cooked food is usually hot. Even when precooked food is not hot we usually heat it up. it sort of is like the spicey foods situation someone mentioned.

I prefer some things hot and some things not, I do like hot food more than really cold food like ice cream but things like pizza are just as good cold as hot and day old cold pizza is the best. or leftover steak sliced up and made into a sandwich is good too.

Was wondering, was there ever a time when early Man ate his food at the source of the kill? If so,I was thinking instant eating of an animal kill would have early Man eating warm meat since the animals body wouldn't have time to cool.

Also isn't warm cooked meat easier to chew? Maybe the old farts needed their food cooked for easier chewing???
