What happened to the body of Jesus?

I mean like there was meant to have been a special star when he was born so you'd think they'd lay on something special for his big exit. Perhaps a clap of thunder at least.

So what was the pupose of floating up into the clouds? Was it simply God being overdramatic again, like Elijah in his chariot of fire?

First it's not enough, then it's too much... make up your mind. :D

For completeness - do you have a biblical reference for that please?

That concerning the darkness, earthquakes, dead bodies walking around after Jesus' death; here are your references:

Matthew 27:50-53
Mark 15:33,38
Luke 23:44-46

Huh, according to Mark, God was called Elias?

the Bible said:
34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
35 And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.

Mark 15 NKJV
33 Now when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. 34And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" which is translated, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?"
35Some of those who stood by, when they heard that, said, "Look, He is calling for Elijah!" 36Then someone ran and filled a sponge full of sour wine, put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink, saying, "Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to take Him down."

Some thought he was calling to Elijah. He was calling out My God.
