What factors besides photosynthesis determine how tall trees will grow?

The Internet is in a state of anarchy where one site writes something very different from another site about a given subject. You can't learn about a subject like this because the information given to you is not objective or is not complete.

Also different dictionaries give you different definitions of words which is very misleading.

This site I found says that plants need 16 chemical elements to survive.

However it's not completely these 16 chemicals though. Plants also need the correct temperature and soil PH in order to grow. Too hot environments make plant respiration greater than the photosynthesis they need to produce food (sugars) which hinders their growth. Too low temperatures on the other also result in poor growth. Photosynthesis is slowed down at low temperatures. Since photosynthesis is slowed, growth is slowed, and this results in lower yields. Not all plants grow best in the same temperature range.
