White lies is common thing to do. I bet you've did it more than once in your lifetime. It's ok. ;)

Yep. And also to a person who can't understand yet, if we tell the truth. Such as a kid asking about sex :D. (I don't meant to lie to a kid for these stuff. But... you know... :D)
 
I'd say no, and let the child live.

Disease and famine are natural ways of controlling Human population. With the current exponential growth rate, mass death is (whether I really want to say it or not) a prerequisite of our prosperity.

Already, more babies are being born than people are dying. It doesn't need to get any worse.
