Tunisia's newly elected president calls for country's Jewish population to return

.

Has Tunisia got enough spare jobs, houses etc to supply returning Jews with an acceptable lifestyle.

Israel's unemployment rate was 6.7% last year.
Fairly low. Possibly due to their ethnic cleansing policy.

Tunisia's, on the other hand, is 13%, a little down from last year.

True, but you don't have to look at it as a project, but just as an invitation; if they are coming home, they have to manage their stuff, they wan't find some new houses and jobs waiting for them, as everyone else actually, but maybe by time they will come back, and some of them can come back to live here and invest in something.
So for any time soon, it's not a project, the country needs to stand on its feet first, and start the real developement.

The only thing I'm worried about Shadow,
is the possibility that they are being invited back as a possible solution to the Palestine Israeli problem.
The suggestion that Israel can be emptied of Jews, by all countries being willing to accept refugee Jews back into their territories.

If this is an honest proposition, then it is a great thing for an emerging democratic nation like Tunisia to offer, but if it has the undercurrents which I suggest only because of cynicism born of experience, then it is not helpful.

Jews weren't kicked out of their countries, they left by their own choice to Israel, and effcorse by Israel seduction (offering money, free homes, lands, etc...)

The invitation isnt effcorse, a desire to do the good thing, politics is all about interests, first, that will gain likes from the international community, also in case Tunisia opposed to Israel policies and went to help Palastinians to establish a Palastinian state, it also makes a strong point against Israel, in case Israel accused Tunisia of being radical, and obpressing jews and such things, here it comes the role of the Tunisian jews (who already refused Israel invitation to leave Tunisia immidiatly and go to Israel by saying that Tunisia is their home and etc...), and in that case, Israel will be just facing, a secular, democratic country, even if not totally secular, it's a democratic country that all it's citizents (no matter what is their relegion) are equal and have their full rights, so they will not find the excuse like of Iran (even that there are alot of Iranian jews living in Iran).
Jews, are not Israel, and Israel, is not jews, Israel is a colonial entity, and many jews who lives in it, are seduced to move there, just saying that we're not against jews in anyway, but we are against Israel.

It's also kind of a way, to invite them and invest in Tunisia, and to also gain more support from the west.

If the other emerging democratic arab countries do the same, consider Israel in a threat (for not finding some relegion or anti-semetism execuses to fight those arab countries, because the international community, and also the jews from those country, will be an obstacle in their way)

The newly elected president Moncef Marzouki, have been accused of being anti-semetic or anti-jews in a newspaper, because he refused to meet a zionist american poltical group related to Israel (or something like that), so he did that step to proove the other wise, it's like, two birds in one shot, or many birds. (that's what I think)

It's a positive moove actually.

(P.S.: Israel project (or more to be as a dream) is to establish the Great Israel, wich extends from the Nile to Furat (a river in Iraq) )

Best forget about solving the problem in Palestine,
till you've worked out your own problems.
Good idea?

Esspecially that Tunisia is having an economical problem right now.

So Tunisia want the jews to return to help solve it's economic problem?

No.
like if you didnt even read my previous posts.
It's for political reasons and interests.
They didnt say why they did this action, but I had some guesses.

& they answer again.

R. Bismuth: The Jews do not want to leave, leave them alone, in Tunisia, there are Tunisians, that's all.

The call on Dec. 7, by the Deputy Prime Minister of Israel, Silvan Shalom, a native of Gabes, which directed the Tunisian Jews to emigrate to the Jewish state, found no echo, they does not necessarily fit that way ...

''I call on Jews living in Tunisia to settle in Israel as soon as possible,''he told Silvan Shalom.

''The call Shalom does not make sense, they are''nonsense, says Roger Bismuth on the other hand, the head of the Jewish community in Tunisia, in a telephone interview with Jeune Afrique:''The Jews of Tunisia do not want to leave, leave them alone''

According to Roger Bismuth, calling Shalom will not be heard:''In the community, no one intends to leave. Myself, I'm at home here, I participated in the national struggle as all Tunisians. I have 85 years I worked for seventy-one on good terms with everyone. And I will continue to do so under any circumstances. ''

He concluded, categorically:''Call Shalom to cease to talk nonsense! I'm tired of chatting about the religion of the people. In Tunisia, there are Tunisians, that's all.''

The Tunisian Jews are aware of a reality: here they are and will always be their home as they were before!

It's in french so i translated it.

Tunisia is a third world shithouse.

Why would anyone, having gotten out of there, want to return?

Maybe the Jews would think this way.
Jews:
Here we are living in a really nice country
where the Americans prop us up with Billions of Dollars every year.
But let's face it, we stole it, didn't we?
Let's go back and live in the country our Great Grandfathers were forced to leave,
and be poor and miserable and frightened.

Away from the conspiracy theories and the idea that Israel controlls USA and half of the word if not all, why does USA sends billions of dollars to Israel every year? Is it to creat tension in the middle east and let wars start their and things get screwed up, and so Israel keep controlling the arab puppets (the leaders) and so on so it can take all the oil later, I mean take it as the full meaning of the word (because American companies and western companies in general already controll the arab gulf oil)?

They want a solidly pro-US base in a Middle East Country.
Yes, to control oil supply.
Israel, with its border on the Mediterranean is ideal.

Is it really such a puzzle to you, Shadow?

Cold northern clime countries benefit from Tunisia's ideal Med proximity for tourism purposes. A Med 'jewel' it is. It may be 'the' Med jewel.

  • No warring hothead factions like Gaza/Israel/Lebanon
  • Not overpriced and overgrown as Southern Spain/France/Italy/Greece
  • Close tourism proximity to United Kingdom/Scandinavia/Northern Europe

Tunisia has major growth potential.

Yeah, we don't want just tourism, tourism is a fragile sector you know.
Promote tourism and take the best of it is essential and the tourism sector must be well used, as you said, it's very promesing.

But it must not be the main economy motor, industry must be promoted more, esspecially the high-tech industries.

I'm optimistic for the future, but however not for this year (2012), there should be some economical problems and there will be also some adjustements (the current economic growth, is 0)
