The reason for the decline in forum membership - anyone?

I'm done.

So, I can tell you why I am done. I think this will be nearing one of my last posts. Who knows if it will be allowed to stay? So sad. I've had a lot of great times here, met some amazing people, this place has taught me a lot about science, being skeptical, doing my own research, shifting my thinking and being more rational. . . I could go on. But I have had it.

As of today, I am through. Today I tried to log on and the site was down. I was extremely suspicious. Why? Because since the new forum engine has been in place, several of my posts have gone missing. Now, in two threads today, in both the 9/11 was an inside job thread, and the The Obama File thread, significant posts I made with astounding relevant proof to back up my points were deleted with no reason given. Likewise, all member responses to those posts were also deleted. If truth cannot be revealed, if people can't be free to discuss reality, than this whole site is not scientific, it is a sham intended to control the thought and ideas of the masses and make advertisers forming the western corporatist state money. It has nothing to do with reality, science or truth.

Here is the data that got deleted and hence provoked the Corporatocracy to rearrange reality and delete several posts, mine and others.

The population knowing the truth, whether it be scientific, political, culture, what ever, isn't profitable. This site is set up to make a profit. So it is inherently a contradiction, it is at odds with itself. It purports to be a source of knowledge and truth, but it cannot be, because it's goal and objective is also to make advertisers money. I think members forget that non-members, the bulk of it's readership, see advertisements. To them, it is important they not get the truth. Same as your nightly news. People who have integrity and want to speak the truth won't stick around here, you can't make money off of them. I did some research on a different computer not on my IP address on the way other contributors have been banned, blocked, etc. for speaking their truth. Not because they broke rules. It's truly awful. It is.

It would be a shame to lose you, The Esotericist. I'm inclined to blame the difficulties at the forum on failures of technology, of which we experience a great many living here in the remote north of Canada. There was difficulty in putting through card transactions today, so perhaps the heavier traffic of a holiday has had some impact?

Or perhaps that is what 'the powers that be' would like us to believe? :)

The site had issues yesterday. It's no conspiracy against you. My post in the food thread disappeared....unless there is a conspiracy against bacon topped Au Graten potatoes....which if true...I'm out here! :)

It looks like they restored the database from a previous version, so all the posts after that were sent to oblivion.
 
Before the site crashed yesterday, it looked like James R closed this thread as one what was badly off-topic.
 
yesterday i uncovered a vast conspiracy and posted evidence of it
the posts have been deleted

as such it is obvious that james is conspirator and is actively engaging in a cover up
i could post it again but will not bother except to say aliens and enslavement are involved

i shall depart these forums and am headed for the hills

The message today said database error. Some kind of rollback took place, as is customary when a database problem occurs. If the site became infected, which can still happen in these cautious times, a rollback might be the safest measure. Software mods can sometimes have unexpected consequences, too. Maybe the database can be rebuilt.

I wrote a lot of stuff, too, and it all disappeared. What of it? I remember what I said.

I think the reliability here has been great. So what if it sputters once in a blue moon (literally, in this case)?

Besides, there are plenty of ways to compose and save long posts - like notepad.

I actually feel sorry for the admins who are constantly having to delete spam bots, plus policing the rules, plus trying to protect against infection, plus trying to modernize by upgrading. All the while anyone who feels slighted (maybe even justifiably so) can launch in and harp on them about that.

Whoever actually thinks this is a way to censor members is just being paranoid.

And for all of you who volunteer to keep this site going, good luck and thanks.

nah something is happening... I have a quality Geneve watch and HTC phone that both stop functioning at random times but do it together... of periods of up to 20 minutes. The telephone has to be reset regular and the watch reset obviously. It seems like I am being hit with an EMP blast of some sort but sheesh how would you prove that...and of course it automatically leads to suspicion and conspiracy theorising. Next thing I might be walking around wrapped in foil [ faraday foil]
Sci forums goes off line frequently. This thread itself was locked and now it has been re-opened... strange things
The DB role back wiped out about 6 posts for me including pms from now 9.12pm back about 12 hours.
The site has been down I think 3 nights running for about 45 minutes starting from about 9pm [Australian East Coast] so most likely somethng is scheduled at that time.

I would be interested in hearing of any one else experiencing [ EMP hit type ] phenonema. Possibly we have solar flare activity of a unusual kind.
Atm/eftpos, banking transactions could be very vulnerable, if so we should start to see news emmerging in the media shortly.
Standard solar flare activity doesn't normally penetrate.as badly.. but if a certain type of flare [ CME ] occurs it could.

I can't decide whether I find this funny or sad. I mean, you're so delusional that when the forum--which has been buggy since the upgrade--rolls back after a database error, your first instinct is to assume you're being "silenced" by the site owners. How disconnected from reality must one be to make that assumption? On the other hand, how egocentric must one to believe that they are important enough and dangerous enough to warrant such a measure?

And your explanation for this alleged conspiracy-to-cover-a-conspiracy is, as expected, insufficient. It requires us to accept your premise that "the truth is not profitable." You make this claim without providing any sort of supporting evidence, supposedly expecting us to take "Network" at its word (that film is for obvious reasons is a staple of any paranoid conspiracy loon's diet). I would argue that especially in the case of your silly 9/11 claims, they would draw sufficient pageviews from idiots and freaks and similar nutbags to be plenty profitable. I mean, look at the length of the 9/11 thread. It's a popular topic, and advertisers would no doubt be in favor of it. Especially since--and this is the important part--every single one of your claims has been refuted, and you, and everyone like you, have been exposed as a liar and a fraud and a copy/paster from Truther websites, which are in turn nothing more than copy/pastings from the Loose Change films and similar media.

What you fail to mention is that he made allusions to killing people by decapitation via axe on his Facebook page, and there were complaints filed by viewers of his page to the police for that very reason. I mean, you're talking about an ex-Marine posting violent passages on his FB page; I'd call that a cause for concern. The FBI were acting in accordance with the Virginia law which allows for emergency psychiatric evaluation upon the advice of a professional. A judge disagreed with their interpretation of the man's words, and ordered him released. Oh yeah--the big, bad NWO was foiled by the natural checks and balances within our system. So much for that, huh?

But you don't mention that part, because it destroys the image you're trying to foster. Just like you don't stop for a second to consider how absurd it would be to claim that the feds would go after anyone for making the claims that this man was making. I mean, look no further than this very site, and you'll find plenty of people making the same claims, barking even louder than that ex-Marine. There are hundreds of those Truther websites, and no doubt as many or more FB sites promoting similar ideas. Why are they not being hunted down? Why just this one Marine?

You know the answer to that.
 
So, it appears as though the last 28 or so hours worth of posts and actions (including moderator action - such as the closure of this thread) have been wiped from the forum...

I can't find anything that explains why we have had a rollback.

Suffice to say, at present, the staff know about as much as everyone else.. ie.. nothing..

We had a rollback because there were some severe database errors this morning.
