Morning Dew by Jeff Beck

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Se8OmYL5br0&feature=related

Walk me out in the morning dew, my honey.
Please walk me out in the morning dew, sometime.
Can't walk you out in no morning
dew. I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
Can't walk you out in no morning dew.

Thought I heard a young man cryin'.
Thought I heard a young man cryin' today.
You didn't hear no young man cryin'.
You did not hear no young man cryin'.

Thought I heard a young girl cryin'.
Thought I heard a young girl cryin'.
You, you did not hear no young girl cryin'.
I'm sorry but you know it is [ true ] .
You did not hear no young man cryin'.

Now there is no more morning dew.
Now there is no more morning dew.
What they've been saying all these
god-darn' years has come true,
I knew it would too.
Now there's no more morning dew.

Now there is no more morning dew, at all, oh.
Now there is no more morning dew.
Because, because, because,
What they've been saying all these years has come true,
You know, and only you know,
that there's no more morning dew.

Now, now there is no more morning dew.
People, you know that there's no more morning dew.
Because, because,
What they've been saying all these years has come true,
it had to happen.
You know, that there's no more morning dew.

Steppenwolf - Monster

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpuyXdKx9Ws

Once the religious, the hunted and weary
Chasing the promise of freedom and hope
Came to this country to build a new vision
Far from the reaches of kingdom and pope
Like good Christians, some would burn the witches
Later some got slaves to gather riches

But still from near and far to seek America
They came by thousands to court the wild
And she just patiently smiled and bore a child
To be their spirit and guiding light

And once the ties with the crown had been broken
Westward in saddle and wagon it went
And 'til the railroad linked ocean to ocean
Many the lives which had come to an end
While we bullied, stole and bought our a homeland
We began the slaughter of the red man

But still from near and far to seek America
They came by thousands to court the wild
And she just patiently smiled and bore a child
To be their spirit and guiding light

The blue and grey they stomped it
They kicked it just like a dog
And when the war over
They stuffed it just like a hog

And though the past has it's share of injustice
Kind was the spirit in many a way
But it's protectors and friends have been sleeping
Now it's a monster and will not obey

(Suicide)
The spirit was freedom and justice
And it's keepers seem generous and kind
It's leaders were supposed to serve the country
But now they won't pay it no mind
'Cause the people grew fat and got lazy
And now their vote is a meaningless joke
They babble about law and order
But it's all just an echo of what they've been told
Yeah, there's a monster on the loose
It's got our heads into a noose
And it just sits there watchin'

Our cities have turned into jungles
And corruption is stranglin' the land
The police force is watching the people
And the people just can't understand
We don't know how to mind our own business
'Cause the whole worlds got to be just like us
Now we are fighting a war over there
No matter who's the winner
We can't pay the cost
'Cause there's a monster on the loose
It's got our heads into a noose
And it just sits there watching

(America)
America where are you now?
Don't you care about your sons and daughters?
Don't you know we need you now
We can't fight alone against the monster

==============

avenged sevenfold: afterlife!

Like walking into a dream, so unlike what you've seen
so unsure but it seems, ’cause we’ve been waiting for you
Fallen into this place, just giving you a small taste
of your afterlife here so stay, you'll be back here soon anyway

I see a distant light, but girl this can't be right
Such a surreal place to see so how did this come to be
Arrived too early

And when I think of all the places I just don't belong
I've come to grips with life and realize this is going too far

I don't belong here, we gotta move on dear escape from this afterlife
’Cause this time I'm right to move on and on, far away from here

A place of hope and no pain, perfect skies with no rain
Can leave this place but refrain, ’cause we've been waiting for you
Fallen into this place, just giving you a small taste
of your afterlife here so stay, you'll be back here soon anyway

This peace on earth's not right (with my back against the wall)
No pain or sign of time (I’m much too young to fall)
So out of place don't wanna stay, I feel wrong and that's my sign
I've made up my mind

Gave me your hand but realize I just wanna say goodbye
Please understand I have to leave and carry on my own life

I don't belong here, I gotta move on dear escape from this afterlife
’Cause this time I'm ready to move on and on, far away from here
Got nothing against you and surely I'll miss you
This place full of peace and light, and I’d hope you might
take me back inside when the time is right

Loved ones back home all crying ’cause they're already missing me
I pray by the grace of God that there's somebody listening
Give me a chance to be that person I wanna be
(I am unbroken; I’m choking on this ecstasy)
Oh Lord I'll try so hard but you gotta let go of me
(Unbreak me, unchain me, I need another chance to live)

*Solo*
(Screaming)
(Laughing)

I don't belong here, I gotta move on dear escape from this afterlife
’Cause this time I'm ready to move on and on, far away from here
Got nothing against you and surely I'll miss you
This place full of peace and light, and I’d hope you might
take me back inside when the time is right

The Translucent Communion - a reflection of the hollow and imaginary archetype of our civilization , a blackened view on the humanity falling into a perfect nothingness of technocratic illusions, a refined and well designed disharmony for our next generation. 6 tracks that arise from the shadows, then spread and sweep across a barren, wind swept landscape, creating a sound so thick and texturally deep it swallows the earth like a venomous fog. Comparisons to Raison D'Être, Lustmord and Bad Sector are reference points, but only hint at the massive potential of Vestigial.

the revolutionary new Nas album, "Untitled", yet it was really supposed to be called "Nigger."

Four new additions

Recent additions to my mp3 collection:

The Black Crowes, Warpaint
The Flaming Lips, At War With the Mystics
Radiohead, In Rainbows
Bernstein in Berlin — Beethoven: Symphony No. 9

I can't believe it took me so long to get the Radiohead album. Damn thing's free for the taking, after all.

Anyway, the quick reviews:

Warpaint is excellent; I so adore the Crowes. Is there a weak point on this album? In my opinion, no, not really. At War With the Mystics is a fine outing from the Lips, although my introduction to their broader library started with Yoshimi and then Soft Bulletin. These are hard acts to follow, and while "The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song" and "Free Radicals" are immensely fun songs, the rest of the album, while good, just can't live up to the standards the band has set in the past. It's almost inevitable, and thus forgivable. A solid album, all told. This is another album I can't believe it took me so long to get hold of. In Rainbows? Dude, it's a Radiohead album. Right now there is nothing to compare to this band. They're fucking amazing. When I think back on all the bands I missed because I was born too late, or hadn't gathered my musical sensibilities yet—e.g., never saw Mother Love Bone, saw one Soundgarden show, saw one Nirvana show, never saw the Dead, never saw Pink Floyd—Radiohead is one of the names that brings me comfort. Bernstein in Berlin? I prefer the title Ode to Joy instead of Ode to Freedom, but what else can we expect of a Christmas, 1989 performance in Berlin including the Bavarian Radio Chorus, Berlin Radio Chorus, Dresden Philharmonic Children's Chorus, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orghestra, and parts of the Dresden Staatskapelle, Orchestra of the Kirov Theatre, London Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, and Orchestre de Paris? And, frankly, given all that, it's hard to argue with the chosen title. And, yes, the performance is all that. Gorgeous.
