God either encourages or demands charity from his followers, depending on which mouth, or which side of that mouth he’s speaking from.
Is there another orifice he speaks out of?
God either encourages or demands charity from his followers, depending on which mouth, or which side of that mouth he’s speaking from.
Matthew 5:42 - Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.
That's easy. But it's not complimentary to self-described "Christians".
Most people in both Parties still are Christian.
It wasn't a distinction, it was a reminder - you were ascribing racism to Democrats and Christianity to Republicans as if they were separated, and I am reminding you that the worst of the racists and the most fundamentalist of the Christians are all together and mostly Republicans now, steady since 1980.
The government policies they favor do.
In this case, it often is - the US is and has been recently among the major creators of refugees in this world.
That was by making war, which created these refugees.
And not taxing the rich to pay for it.
God either encourages or demands charity from his followers, depending on which mouth, or which side of that mouth he’s speaking from.
Hebrews 13:16 - Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
Deuteronomy 15:7-11 - “If among you, one of your brothers should become poor, in any of your towns within your land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart or shut your hand against your poor brother, but you shall open your hand to him and lend him sufficient for his need, whatever it may be. Take care lest there be an unworthy thought in your heart and you say, ‘The seventh year, the year of release is near,’ and your eye look grudgingly on your poor brother, and you give him nothing, and he cry to the Lord against you, and you be guilty of sin. You shall give to him freely, and your heart shall not be grudging when you give to him, because for this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you undertake. For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’+
Matthew 5:42 - Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.
Giving charity to the disadvantaged and persecuted is enabling vice?
Was Obama also operating under UN pressure at the time? From Iraq? Republicans were strongly against Obama's actions which allowed that region-destabilizing power vacuum.
What exactly is "UN pressure"?Was Obama also operating under UN pressure at the time?
What exactly is "UN pressure"?
i was gonna ask if it was the opposite of pressureI was being lazy. Didn't research UN resolutions of the time and thought some one else may know.
I was being lazy. Didn't research UN resolutions of the time and thought some one else may know.
That would be close to the truth. I don't think anyone really works too much about pressure from the UN.i was gonna ask if it was the opposite of pressure
LOL

So...where is this supposed "demand"?
yeah they just need to put Christ back into Christ-ianity and suddenly old values re-appear that have been forgotten....Matthew 5.42↗: "Give to him who begs from you, and do not refuse him who would borrow from you."
Matthew 25.34-46↗:
Then the King will say to those at his right hand, 'Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see thee hungry and feed thee, or thirsty and give thee drink? And when did we see thee a stranger and welcome thee, or naked and clothe thee? And when did we see thee sick or in prison and visit thee?' And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.' Then he will say to those at his left hand, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.' Then they also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see thee hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to thee?' Then he will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.' And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
Racism has been largely the purview of Republicans since the southern bigot vote switched parties - sometime before 1980, when Reagan took over the Party by gathering the bigot vote to himself.Yes, racism definitely was largely the purview of Democrats, and in different ways, it still is. And yes, today more Christians are Republican than Democrat. These are not conflicting facts. Nor do racist Christians today impute to the majority of Christians or Republicans.
The Bible contains no commands relative to governmental bureaucracy, beyond that Christians pay their taxes. No, the government bureaucracies that implement such policies lack any ability to be discerning, as the Bible commands.
The record of US involvement in Iraq, spilling into Syria, with all the millions of refugees created over the past fifteen years,Really? From Syria, the largest current source? How did the US create that?
From Iraq? Republicans were strongly against Obama's actions which allowed that region-destabilizing power vacuum.
The world was not created in six days ending about two years ago. The region was destabilized by the US military in the Iraq War, and our military has been present in the area since WWII.It was the lack of our military that destabilized the region, not its presence
really? but jesus also stated that he supported the OT laws MAT 5:17-19yeah they just need to put Christ back into Christ-ianity and suddenly old values re-appear that have been forgotten....
btw I am not a Christian but admire most of the values the account of Jesus Christ offered.

Re: Iraqi destabilization. ( because it's Sunday and I got nothing better to do)
It is often cause for fascination how people can so quickly distort the history of past events. At the time, if I recall correctly, close to 5000 USA trained and fully equipped Iraqi Soldiers not only abandoned their weapons and uniforms and surrendered to ISIL en-mass, they also were executed en-mass with out any sign of resistance. Apparently willingly kneeling beside the ditch waiting to have their brains blown out or their throats slit.
Racism has been largely the purview of Republicans since the southern bigot vote switched parties - sometime before 1980, when Reagan took over the Party by gathering the bigot vote to himself.
Currently the large majority of Republican voters are racist Christians - at least 60% and more likely over 80%, if the polls are any good.
The Bible contains no commands relative to governmental bureaucracy, beyond that Christians pay their taxes.
The record of US involvement in Iraq, spilling into Syria, with all the millions of refugees created over the past fifteen years,
- as well as the US involvement in Afghanistan with so many refugees, and various African countries with their millions, and Indonesia, and Mexico, and the southern Americas, and the Caribbean, and so forth,
is clear and primarily Republican Party based in origin and execution. The Iraq War was a Republican Party venture entirely.
The world was not created in six days ending about two years ago. The region was destabilized by the US military in the Iraq War, and our military has been present in the area since WWII.
Why would a Christian have to be forced to be charitable? He was saying nations should be charitable because Christians, completely ignoring that the Bible doesn't promote forced charity.
I am quite happy to argue this out fully in another thread if you so choose to participate in one...Obviously, you don't recall correctly. Throwing down weapons and fleeing is not surrendering and awaiting execution without any resistance.
