Well said. I would have to say that answered my question: "how could it be worse."

I must say that I'm frequently guilty of overlooking the positive aspects of religion and religious thought (the arts, community, etc.) as they are often overshadowed by my bias toward the negative aspects (suppression of scientific knowledge, oppression of others, etc.).

Thank you for putting it in that perspective and chosing your words as well as you did.
