Stupid Sayings

Is it fair to report stupid things that people say, or should the OP be followed assiduously?

"Tomorrow will be a better day!" Patently untrue in many cases.

"Moss grows on the north side of tree trunks." Try that if you're lost and can't navigate except with help of a Popular Mechanics article that you read 30 years ago, eh?

We could go on forever about 1984, but since we're living it, what's the point?

You can't have your cake and eat it too

Why not?

If I have a cake surely the plan is to eat it

And you can't think I am stupid enough to eat a cake but still expect it to be in the fridge

Foolish folks. The morning is best when you see and hear it born. Then you go to work!

The only problem I have with getting up that early is the amount of mosquito repellent I have to put on to dare going outside at 6am. I might as well live in Minnesota, and dip myself in DEET every day...

Evidently, mosquitos do not like me.

Lord. You're lucky! If I'm there, no one else gets bitten...

Reminds me of a time I was fishing with a friend in a small boat on a lake. That time they did like me as well as my friend. I slapped my arms several times then stopped & focused on fishing while he constantly slapped himself.
A few days later, we were playing a video game on his TV & some mosquitos had gotten into his house. I lost points for slapping my arms. He was astounded that I ignored the mosquitos at the lake yet I lost points in the game by not ignoring them. At the lake, slapping did no good so I quickly stopped that. At his house, slapping was good because they were fewer of them.

Usually, they do not bother me tho.

I grew up there (Minnesota) and got my fair share of mosquito bites. The upside is that I've now developed a tolerance for them. I no longer get a reaction from their bites. No welt, no itching.

I think that one is more on the lines of keeping it even if you eat it.

Sounds nasty, frankly...

It was "You cannot eat your cake & have it too" then somehow was turned around. They did not mean eat it then have it chewed & digested. They meant enjoy eating it then somehow yet have the cake itself as if it had not been eaten.
I can do without either but the 1st made a bit more sense. It was another way of saying "You cannot have it both ways" which is 1 I think is often sensible.

Your mama had it

"Well, I woke up in the morning
There's frogs inside my socks
Your mama, she's a-hidin'
Inside the icebox

Your daddy walks in wearin'
A Napoleon Bonaparte mask
Then you ask why I don't live here
Honey, do you have to ask?"
