What more does it have to offer? Prosperity? Freedom? Wealth? Transparency? Infrastructure? Name ONE measurable quality it has "more of" than any western nation?

~String

I didn't like it in the US either. I was depressed and unhappy there. I'm happier at home in India. I was even happy in Saudi Arabia. Maybe he has similar feelings. Does it matter?

Yeah, that would matter if he actually GREW UP THERE. He didn't. You, grew up in a nation that's on a path towards freedom, ingenuity, and wealth, who's entire political makeup is motivated towards humanist qualities. On the other hand, you have Draq who's obsessed with a nation he has, effectively, never been to, which nation continues to dissolve individual freedoms with every passing year! Wow. Where do I sign up!

~String

Can you protect me against him, please.

Booo-hooo. Poor baby Draq can't--sniffle, sniffle--fight his own battles.

Draq, if I really wanted to "get you", I'd find a way to do it. In fact, I'm passionate about keeping you around to demonstrate what ignorance is, and baring that, for comic relief.

So? let him. What does it matter? This thread is not a competition. I would rather live among the Shiv Sena too. At least, them, I can understand.

More like personal profit. But I still prefer it here.

Duh. Letting him isn't what irritates me. It's the pure, distilled stupidity. No gays in Russia and me being "secretly" straight.

More like personal profit.

You just described every single nation, region and municipality on planet Earth.

When did you leave the US? And why? Now all those warnings I gave my son at Purdue about the crazy woman from India were for nothing!

It was you that introduced the gay issues. For whatever reason he likes Russia better. Why does it matter what it is?

Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely etc.

i cant see how you would even know russia. from your responses it doesnt sound like you seriously want to move.

I grew up in Russia until age 11, I visited and lived there at age 16,17,and 18 as well. I love Russia. I just dont want to answer anymore because of superstring harassment. Please understand me John99, he is an abusive moderator, he is doing this a long time now and there is nothing I can do about it.

He's been there. Maybe if he had to live there for a longer time, he would feel differently. When I first moved to Saudi Arabia I was very uncomfortable there. Later as I got to know the culture, people and language, learned their values, etc, I became quite comfortable among them.

I grew up with English and reading American novels and watching American movies. But I was bored out of my mind there, although initially it was exciting to be in the States. I even lost interest in things which I was very interested in, like reading and classical music. Life is pretty meaningless in the US.

I don't think you can really know a place unless you live there.

I named specific issues which were germane his specific motivations (i.e. lower crime, less gays, more transparency, etc.). Draq, as usual, resorted to stupidity.

Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely etc.

Nice dodge, and virtually a non sequitur to my point which contrasted with your attempt to create a unique juxtaposition. "I like this place, despite its materialism." Which is true of every place, and therefore an irrelevant statement. Might as well have said, "The people in India breath oxygen, but I like 'em anyway." Yeah, so?

The point was politics is also dirty in India, its not the humanism in the politics that makes me comfortable here.

No. It's because it's home, which was the very point I was making. India is your home. Draq has no home because he's set himself up as some faux outcast from a nation--while filled with flaws--is still light years ahead of the place he wants to go--which place, I remind you--he's essentially never been to.

Would be like me lusting after Mobile, Alabama because I was born there and lived there 'till I was 9, even there I've formed no adult and significant memories of the place.

Maybe you missed my edit. I was also comfortable in Saudi Arabia.

I sometimes regret leaving it for the US, although in a way, I am glad for the opportunity to have been to America.

Does it matter if he is more comfortable elsewhere than home?

you may be exaggerating about going back in your teens. how did the russians treat you?

Like a Russian would treat a Russian man, very warmly and close. Russia for internationals is a different country than Russia for Russians. Culture is essential element of Russia, woman are moral and act with dignity and are smart, the cities are social in every aspect like sharing a ride, home, or just general talk. Aspects of art, music, opera and etc are all throughout Russia and are part of young folks unlike the brats of USA. The ecology is many times better too. Although Moscow is not as ecological the rest of Russia is way more cleaner and greener of a place than anything in dirt-dust of USA.

You have, at least, BEEN THERE AS AN ADULT.

Other reasons you liked it? For starters, by your own words, you're aggressively anti-American/western. Saudi Arabia is a Muslim nation. I won't venture to guess as to the other reasons, and I might, just might respect his reasons if he'd actaully get off his lazy ass and move there--SHIT-even visit there. But still, we have his lame reasoning that "The USA is immoral. . ." and other such nonsense. WTF? Based on that reasoning, he should avoid Russia like the frakking plague!

I get the "it's my culture" business, but Draq attempted to sell the notion based upon quantitative and qualitative reasons which were blatant lies and unsupported lies at that.
