That's sad news about Hayes having a stroke and then being misrepresented, and even sadder that Matt and Trey responded in the way they did towards what is essentially a sick friend. But it is a cult, and the Humanist doctrine precludes following any kind of nostrums, authorities or commandments just on the basis of belonging to a group or sect. Scientology is a cult, and Dianetics is snake-oil, and L. Ron Hubbard basically betrayed the promulgation of rationality and science which was the hallmark of his generation - the Golden Age generation - of science fiction writers by setting both those things up and selling them.
