In short sandy, take it on the chin and give back as is given to you. Don't let us get to you. We are annoying snots the majority of the time. We will take you up on what we disagree with and hence that is the general gist of the majority of all forums. We don't want to be converted. We will make fun of you, as we do with each other and we will help you if you need it.
If you're getting personal abuse from certain members then simply ignore them and continue with debates, discussions, etc.
I didn't bother to Google search for anything about you Sandy. On another forum, there was a thread about Are you a theist or an atheist. You were supposed to say what and why in 35 words or less. One poster said atheist, and linked to the moronic comments by theists on the top 100 list of Fundies Say The Darndest Things. I was amused/horrified by the list, and couldn't stop reading it until I was done. And there you were!

Sometime you have a mob mentality here and many are an exaggeration of their true selves but it is because of perceived annonymity (sp). I'm not a psychologist i just play one on forums.
