Should God pay income tax ?

Just read the link I sent you, try to park your prejudices for a moment and use your reason. Have you never tried to run a business, a club or a society? Do you think the church can run on thin air? If you can show me lots of instances of fatcat C of E clerics living it up I will share your disgust, but frankly I do not see it.

Religion takes in millions of dollars every year and pay no taxes.
Should the government change the law and tax that income for the benefit of all ?
Absolutely! Should have paid taxes since day 1. Maybe they should be grandfathered in. They should also be charged with polluting the air with unnecessary smoke, and causing colorectal cancer, especially in places like Detroit, Memphis, Nashville, and Los Angeles.

Personally, I don't think corporations should be taxed at all. But as long as some corporate bodies are being taxed, they should all be treated equally.
If I had to guess you would say they shouldn't have to pay hourly employees for their work and skills either.

You'd be wrong. I think the minimum wage should be doubled tomorrow. The workers should pay the taxes and they should be paid enough that they can afford to pay the taxes.

I would like all religious organizations to pay tax, as I think they are just using Religion to make money, exploiting their flock. True religion doesn't require an organization - just read what Jesus said about how and where to pray ! He aught to know what his father wants !

If you question is "Should God pay income tax", then yes if he's working, no if he's on the dole, which he is with a pancreas problem and diabetes 2 + shoulder injury and a mysterious ankle injury.

Taxes can be structured to penalize specific groups. If we are to keep government out of religion, it's influence in religion should be minimized.

Government should be fair and tax any group as they would any one else..simple.
And as any business they will have income and deductions so if they spend money for wages and programs it will be deductable.
But to have religion outside the general community seems very wrong.

I think it's been established that ruling authorities have used their power to manipulate religion and religious practices. Taxes are just another lever to exert control over groups of people. As an example, I pay a sales tax in a state that has no sales tax, simply because I'm a smoker. They can and will use it.

Billions
https://www.christiantoday.com/arti...rd-114-9-b-donations-in-2014-report/57240.htm

In a report released on its website, the foundation said a total of $114.9 billion worth of charitable donations went straight to recipients that are religious in nature—an all-time high in 60 years.

"2014 giving increased 2.5 percent in current dollars, and a modest 0.9 percent when adjusted for inflation," Giving USA stated in a press release issued last week.

Christianity Today said the amount included over $11 billion donated to Southern Baptist churches, which was three times more than what United Way, the largest charity in America, received last year.

Have you considered growing your own.
Years ago folk around here grew at home and Garden each boasting their curing was better. ..
Might save you a small fortune cause ther price of smokes is pretty high...think of how much you spend a week...here smoking would cost $30 a day...heck you might be able to work one day a week less.

As to taxing religion I dont care if the government taxes them out of town.

Think how everyones tax burden may diminish if you taxed church income...you could get ride of sales tax on smokes.

Religious freedom was a big deal back in the day.

As far as growing my own, I'm thinking of moving to vape. The cost is about the same, but I think it's healthier--I can still feed my addiction and maybe extend my life a few years.

I very much agree.
