At least thier attributes are easily edited but more fundamental changes like appearance, names and such, would require lots of work.

Yeah...you can make your own RTCW maps but it's murder, apparently. It would be kind of interesting to put some silly units in the game; but I can see from a couple of animations how hard that would be.

I made a few once. Its actually quite easy with GtKRadiant once you get used to it.
