OUT OF GAME: Ok, so what does each side want/fight for? And which are you guys on?
I will write a detailed one later if you like, but basically.
Earth Defense Union is a Vichi Empire-lead alliance, that includes North America and Non-Vichi Western and Northern Europe. The most powerful nations and EDU nations controls over half of all of the United Earth Alliance's colonies, almost all of the outer and frontier colonies and a notable number of mid colonies.
In case you have forgotten the territory of the Vichi Empire, it includes almost all of Central with territory in Northern and Western Europe. It have complete control of Northern Africa on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, and the sea itself. It also have territory in the eastern part of East Asia. It controls almost all of the frontier colonies, a huge portion of the outer colonies. It is also a prolific manufacturer and user of artificial space colonies.
Reformist League is a Oceania-lead league that includes pretty much everyone else. RL nations controls almost all the inner and a substantial sum of mid colonies.
Note: The colonial system have Earth at its center
RL's forces drastically outnumber the EDU's, but EDU's are better trained and equipped. That applies to all the branches, and only counting the official military. The RL have a lot of insurgents, terrorists and militants fighting for them, and the EDU have rouge agencies they sheltered and supported such as Neo-ESSCPA, ESSCPA Special Operations, Delta Secret Police, Secret Intelligence Service, Special Activities Division etc. on their side. The RL have support from enemies of the UEA such as the Holians and Varja. The EDU had ( note pass-tense ) support from the Xenturian Empire.
They are fighting because of the terrorist attacks on EDU territory ( mostly the Vichi Empire ). The RL have interfered and their interference helped the terrorists ( such as blockading EDU ships en route to provid reinforcement or pursuing terrorists ). The Vichi Empire have found evidence of RL involvement with the terrorists and support from the Holians, the Vraja and other enemies of the UEA. The RL accused the EDU, especially the Vichi Empire of harboring and defending dangerous criminals and traitors such as the Neo-ESSCPA, and the ESSCPA Special Operations amongst other rouge agencies. Vichi Empire intended to declare war, but Shogun's parents were attacked and murdered while on their way to a diplomatic mission to a RL colony demanding an ultimatum, and Shogun's older sister ( Relena vi Yamato ) is MIA right before giving an ultimatum to the RL. RL-affiliated terrorists claimed responsibility. The EDU and the Vichi Empire responded by declaring war and right after the Vichi delegation finished, a vital RL shipyard was destroyed. All this happened a few days after my guy is captured by the Holians.
The EDU with Xenturian support made a big push in ward at the beginning and it seemed like it would be a relatively short war and imminent EDU victory. EDU advancement slowed drastically as it hit the inner colonies. Holians and Varja then attacked Xenturia, which reduced Xenturian support to only the Xenturian-Vichi Expeditionary Fleets and Exploratory Fleets. The RL with its new allies overran EDU positions and the EDU is now on the defensive and slightly losing.
