Sciforums Fleet

"engaging slipstream drive" I yelled

Sparks flew from the torpedos hitting the shields.

With a surprisingly low whine the quantum slipstream drive tore open a tunnel through space and time and accelerated the ship far beyond the speed of light or any other FTL engine. Five minutes later we arrived at the recall point.

Everyone sighed a relief.

"Were reporting 30 injured, 3 dead sir." one of the bridge officers said

There were blood running down my brow, not much, the interface to my right blew a fuse and shocked me a bit. But I was on duty so there was nothing I could do about it.

I got out of my chair and went over to the science officer, "do we have them?" I said

"Aye sir, theyre out 50 kilometers to the starboard bow." He said

I limped back over, there were a few fires on the ship, mostly from new equipment, which shouldnt be happening and I need to figure out why later. But for now the halon systems at the least were working.

"Shin, razor, anyone there?" I said working the controls.

I hit my comm badge (Could we use something similar to trek style comm badges? I just feel like that would be handier than some sort of intercom system.) "Kato to engineering, what happened?"

"Were trying to figure that out, the best we can come up with is that the power systems were made to be broken in, when we got hit the power surges to different areas was a lot worse than expected."

"How long till it's all fixed?" I said

"A day or two" someone in engineering said

"Get it done, I want us ready to move in an hour." I said

I headed out of the bridge to see what I could do. I smelled smoke so I grabbed a halon extinguisher from a bin and a mask and set out to see where it was.

Five minutes later I found that the fire was in the engineering tubes below the bridge. I entered the tube with the mask on and tried putting it out with the extinguisher.

"Fuck!" the stupid thing didn't work. I got out and saw some engineers.

"You!" I yelled, "Get me an extinguisher that fucking works!"

I directed the other two to go find and fix whatever they could on the bridge.

Five minutes later the third machenists mate returned with two extinguishers, and an extra mask. He yelled over the smoke "I'll get it from the other side" he tossed me the extinguisher.

I grabbed it and enterred the tube as he entered from the other side. The smoke was thick but the extinguishers worked perfectly.

By the time we got out we were sweat soaked, "well done" I said.

I hurried back to the bridge to get an update on the situation.

Out of game: Two things, one Tiberius was out in the stolen fighter not me and second I agree with the comm badge Idea but it's voice activated instead of you having to hit it (better for combat). Basicly instead of hitting it you say call enginneering or call Lueteneant Shin

Im sure that considering it is the future you could personalize it as you want. But thanks for agreeing.

"Tiberius you there" I said again over the comm.

"Sir, try rotating the frequencies to the higher spectrum." An engineer working at another console advised.

"Okay" I said, working the chaotic controls

"Tiberius, shin you guys there?"

out of game: No problem but what do you think about adding Delta-Vee fighters to our fighters? (we can add them later on to replace the vipers we lost on the way).

Okay, but do you mind continuing the story, cause I have almost run outta material.

OOC: Halon is an extremely effective fire suppresant, it is a gas that is emitted in quantities of 5% compared to the normal atmosphere. It literally poisons and starves out a fire. The good thing is that in those concentrations it has no effect on humans so you dont have to deal with water or foam from a fire hose, they use them in the M1A1 and M1A2 series of tanks for example.

You mean our hangar bay? As in the one on the ship? As in the ship that could use some help putting out electrical fires with extinguishers that dont work?
