Sciforums Fleet

"Well if it works we can just extend the life of some of these rookies in here. That will be good especially since we can't get any replacements. If you want I'll fly mine with the shield generators added before we leave space dock to see how it affects the ship."

"Well I'll help you install it I turn a mean.......it's called a wrench right? I'm Just kidding with you dude. So let's get started."

OUT OF GAME: Let's continue tommorow. It's friggin late, so I don't want to have to use my brain.

out of game: Alright later man. oh hey before I forget next time you see Nick tell him I said hi and that he needs to answer his phone or at least call me back. GOODNIGHT.........................FLORIDA/Groveland. :D

Dave Flemster walked through the reception hall of MoonDock, his knee-length black leather boots clicking on the marble floor. His black miniskirt matched with see-thru black top, coupled with his long flowing black hair, drew many glances from seasoned space travellers all around him.
Dave was writing a report on the success of the bioskin in his internal data storage as he walked. He eventually arrived at the reception desk and stood before a somewhat shaken young girl.
"BEEP. Which was to Dock 7?" he asked.
"Uh... you know what? It's over there." the girl answered, pointing.
As Dave walked away, he could hear her muttering something about 'quitting this shitty job' as her colleagues tried to calm her down. He ignored it and carried on.

Soon enough, Dave sashayed along the connecting arm that led to the Endeavour. Crew members and dock personell stopped what they were doing to look at him.
Dave made another note of how effective this bioskin was.
As he stepped over the seal and onto the ship, the ship's broadcast system came to life.
"Now hear this! Now hear this! Captain's on ship."
Dave ignored it and headed for the bridge, some distance away. He nodded acknowledgements as the younger ratings saluted him when he passed them and, soon enough, reached the bridge blast doors. Being in Safe Mode, they opened automatically as he stepped up to them.
"Captain's on the bridge!" a junior rating shouted.
"BEEP. As you were."
Dave headed straight for his command chair and sat in it, taking great care not to flash his clunge to the helmsman in front of him.
He picked up his electronic preflight checklist and scanned through it in half a second. His aide, a young lieutennent, hovvered nearby, waiting to take the pad from him and write it up.
Instead, Dave called out to the comms officer. "BEEP. Comms, 2MC."
"2MC aye, sir." the young woman replied.
The comms channel to engineering whistled open.
"Engineering. What is it?" Tiberius growled.
"BEEP. Chief, how long til we're ready to break dock?"

(OOG: As I see it, to make the story work, we need the following: A captain (me), an XO, a cheif engineer (Omega), a comms officer, a Chief Of The Boat, a science officer and a CAG. Who wants to do what?)

Out of Game: I am your Chief Staff Officer, Tactical/Strategic Forecaster, Tactician and Strategist. I am your staff, so I can never take command, even if I am the most senior officer left alive, I am not a line officer. I believe the CAG is Razor.

(OOG: Ah, ok. Cheers, Shogun. I vote we all take it in turns to play the random officers and crew that nobody else wants to fill.)

"BEEP. Comms, is this working?" Dave said, looking at the intercom mic.
"Aye sir." came the reply.
Dave pondered for a moment. Then, "XO, personally go down to engineering and get me a departure time. I am eagre to get underway."

Over at MoonDock's ATC, the operator responsible for the Endeavour's dock reported via the comms to central control.
"Central, this is Operator 69."
"Go ahead, six nine."
"Central, SSS Endeavour is cleared for flight, awaiting engine start-up. Preparing to transfer control to ship."
"Six nine, understood. You are authorised to transfer control to SSS Endeavour. Log reads eleven hundred hours zulu."
The operator pressed a single button and his entire panel changed from green to blue, confusing him, since he was colourblind. The chime from the console helped though.
He pressed another comms button; "SSS Endeavour, this is MoonDock flight operations, how copy?"
A pause, then "Five by five, MoonDock."
"Endeavour, flight ops transfered to you. All other traffic has been cleared from your area. You are cleared to launch, captain's discretion."
"Copy, MoonDock. Thanks."
"Happy trails, Endeavour. MoonDock out."
The operator sat back in his chair. He was done for the day and was looking forward to heading over to the ScrewBar in sector eight for some good lovin'. Tonight was 2-for-1 on midgets and farm animals, after all!

Shin removed his sword and his gauntlets and placed them on his chair. He then walked around the room, thinking. He have always wondered why his was named Shin Taira, a Japanese name although he is not Japanese. He was told that his biological mother was from Xenturia, while his biological father came from Vienna District, Vichi Empire ( where we call Vienna, Austria ). He have fine and elegant features. He also have white hair, completely white, his hair is completely healthy, and it is not because of old age, it is because he is born that way, a Xenturian trait to have what humans call odd colored hair. It is about 3 centimeters longer then regulation, but he didn't care, when people point that out, he made a point to say that Bvt. Admiral Shogun Yamato have hair that is 2 centimeters violation of the regulations. His eyes are silver in color, his skin tone is a bit light and he have pointed ears. In fact his physical traits are so distinctly Xenturian, that he can be passed off as a full Xenturian. He like most, if not all Super Soldiers, wondered about their biological heritage, it is something to be curious about.

A young women came into the situation room, judging from her insignia, she was a sub-lieutenant. She came to up Shin, probably thinking he is a normal teenager, not everyone recognized the ESSCPA uniform upon sight. Crew were allowed to bring their child aboard, with a few conditions.

"Hello, what is your name?" she said in a kind voice, Shin decided to play along for a while,

Shin then said,

"Shin, my name is shin,"

She then said,

"Well Shin, this is an area for authorized personnel only, you can't be in here, who are your parents?"

Shin then said,

"I don't know, I never met them," it was a true statement. But the sub-lieutenant took it as that he is orphaned and said kindly,

"I am sorry, who are you with then? Can I see your ID?"

If one of the crew is the closest relative of an orphaned child, they are allowed to bring them aboard. Shin took out his real ID, and handed it to her, when she read it she was shocked and saluted,

"Sir....I didn't know, forgive me,"

Shin then returned the salute then introduced himself,

"Lieutenant Shin Taira, Age 15, ESSCPA Super Soldier, Tactical/Strategic Forecaster, Tactician, Strategist and Chief Staff Officer of Captain Dave Flemster,"

"Sir, Sub-Lieutenant Maria Smith, reporting for duty sir! We were notified that we will have a young officer, but I didn't expect you to be this young sir, and an ESSCPA Super Soldier as well!"

Shin then said,

"At ease and to your post,"

"Aye sir,"

She went to her station and Shin sat back in his chair, put his sword and gauntlets back on, his absence of his sword and gauntlets, probably helped him appear to be just a civilian. It was one of his flaws, he didn't look like a commander, he is too young, he looks like a well-educated young man.

Before he ordered into the intercom, the rest of the situation room staff entered. He turned his chair around and introduced himself again,

"Lieutenant Shin Taira, ESSCPA Super Soldier, Tactical/Strategic Forecaster, Tactician, Strategist and Chief Staff Officer of Captain Dave Flemster,"

They snapped to attention,

"Sir! Reporting for duty sir!"

Shin then said,

"At ease, to your posts,"

They didn't say anything, but they will start discussing about him when off-duty.

Shin brought up his screen and keyboard. Then the power suddenly went out in the situation room,

"Sir, powers out! We don't know why!"

Shin then said into his commlink to the bridge,

"Captain, powers out in the situation room sir,"

Walking into the hanger Razor stopped as it became dark exept for the light from the space dock coming through the atmospheric barrier. "Powers out." Razor said to Tierius. pulling out his comlink Razor flicked it open. "Captain power is out in the hanger bay down here."

Shin gathered a ball of shinning psionic energy in his palms to slightly light up the place, so they can still see.

out of game: nice trick.....oh well at least I can see thanks to the light from the moon dock and sun through the atmosphereric barrier.

Out of Game: The situation room is sealed off therefore, the dim white light from my orb of psionic energy is all we got :(

moving forward razor checked to make sure everyone was okay. After he was satified he turned around. "So Tiberius you up for a walk to the bridge to see what''s up? After we find some flashlight around here."
