Science ~ What is it really about?

What do you think Science is really about?
Why do you want to know my opinion? What motivates you?

and If I withhold that knowledge you pursue and keep it to my self what do I also get to keep?
What could be my motive for not answering your quest for power (of knowledge)?

To what end?
Why do we want to know how the universe works?
Well now, that's a question unto itself.

Because it is our nature to pry the shell apart to see what's inside. Curiosity is a property of intelligence.

One can posit that curiosity is a good survival trait, since it has allowed us to modify our world (and eventually our galactic neighborhood) to flourish and ensure our survival.

Agrees! without curiosity there can be no pursuit.
What does medical science strive for generally speaking?

What is the power they are ultimately searching for?
Immortality? perhaps...

Health without limit. Theoretically, if we fix all health problems, we will achieve immortality.

What is the power they are ultimately searching for?
Well, generously, I'd say serving the public.

I think immortality is a side effect - i.e. people want to fix anything that will kill them. Immortality is the emergent consequence of that.

Science is entirely without ambition. It is simply knowledge, built up through observable, repeatable, and testable experience, that allows for prediction.
Scientists, on the other hand... that's where the ambition lies. ;)
Do you believe that separating the science (knowledge-power) from the scientist is possible?
Why? ( an epistemological question perhaps? )

explain?

Why do you believe climate change is a result of ignorance?
Ignorance of what?
Intentionally ignoring the available data, which clearly indicates that our use of fossil fuels re-introduces billions of tons of sequestered CO2 back into the atmosphere.

12,811,914,942 CO2 emissions, this year (tons) !

Greed is the breeder of willfull (intentional) ignorance.

Scientific knowledge cannot compete with greed for profit. It is the fossil fuel companies who are willfully ignorant, including the scientific lackeys who work for them.

Medical research is for the benefit of man. Medical industry is for the profit of the manufacturers, and not necessarily for the benefit of man.

I just posted a chart of the capitalist insulin market, in the Health and Fitness thread.

Someone once said to me, "knowledge (power) without wisdom is like lighting a firecracker in your but."
How true is that?
